How much does it cost to repair a foc...
I was skating today with my friend and he had this super ghetto tripod and the wind blew and his camera fell off and hit the ground and the focusing ring fell off.
I think he was using a sony handycam. I'm not sure what model. He also said that it's a 1500 dollar camera brand new but he got it used to Craigslist.
If anyone could help me out by throwing me a general price range it would honestly make my day a whole lot better.

- Oh noooo!
This is going to be the worst summer ever. I'm 16 years old and I recently got laid off and am pretty much broke. 450-550 seems pretty steep to put a focusing ring back on. He could hold the ring on and focus it as long as he was holding it so its not completely broken it just needs to be re-attached. Does this change anything?Jun 22, 2009
- Thanks a lot guys. My friend managed to take apart the lens part of his camera or something and put it back together and it works good as new.

450-550?? What currency you're talking about? bucks? give me half the money I'll do it. If retailers or manufacturers ever told you that nobody in the world can repair exept themselves, it means even 10 yr old could manage to do it.
I don't know, where you're located, but around my area (I'm talking about Nottingham, UK) You'd pay no more than £50. That's what my workshop would charge (no more than that) with our lowest price repairs, but I can't advertise myself here so I'm just letting you to know the repairs price in UK
Best luck

- well my expertise lets me to estimate vwithout seeing actual problem, or unit, and I'm confident about it.
If you gonna tell everyone that you need to see it first, then you'll give estimated price, in this case in UK you won't get any customers.
So I do not need to see the skateboard to identify the problem of the camera. You won't change the way I'm doing business.
Thanks for rating whatsoever
Best of luck

- since this cam probably gets beat, i know i used to skate. just have him put some duct tape. if the threads are stripped theres no way to fix other than sending to sony. i work on these type of cams and know you have to totally disassemble unit to replace threaded end. I had one guy have a hard drive cam and dropped it. the hard drive was non-recoverable. he lost footage he was to send to his skate sposors. hope that helps.Jun 24, 2009
- i dont know of currency called BUCKS. how can you give an accurate estimate without seeing the prob.
