How much does it cost to repair a focusing ring that's fallen off

I was skating today with my friend and he had this super ghetto tripod and the wind blew and his camera fell off and hit the ground and the focusing ring fell off.
I think he was using a sony handycam.  I'm not sure what model.  He also said that it's a 1500 dollar camera brand new but he got it used to Craigslist.
If anyone could help me out by throwing me a general price range it would honestly make my day a whole lot better.

    Oh noooo!

This is going to be the worst summer ever.  I'm 16 years old and I recently got laid off and am pretty much broke.  450-550 seems pretty steep to put a focusing ring back on.  He could hold the ring on and focus it as long as he was holding it so its not completely broken it just needs to be re-attached.  Does this change anything?

Thanks a lot guys.  My friend managed to take apart the lens part of his camera or something and put it back together and it works good as new.

450-550?? What currency you're talking about? bucks? give me half the money I'll do it. If retailers or manufacturers ever told you that nobody in the world can repair exept themselves, it means even 10 yr old could manage to do it.
I don't know, where you're located, but around my area (I'm talking about Nottingham, UK) You'd pay no more than £50. That's what my workshop would charge (no more than that) with our lowest price repairs, but I can't advertise myself here so I'm just letting you to know the repairs price in UK

Best luck

well my expertise lets me to estimate vwithout seeing actual problem, or unit, and I'm confident about it.
If you gonna tell everyone that you need to see it first, then you'll give estimated price, in this case in UK you won't get any customers.
So I do not need to see the skateboard to identify the problem of the camera. You won't change the way I'm doing business.
    Thanks for rating whatsoever

    Best of luck

since this cam probably gets beat, i know i used to skate. just have him put some duct tape. if the threads are stripped theres no way to fix other than sending to sony. i work on these type of cams and know you have to totally disassemble unit to replace threaded end. I had one guy have a hard drive cam and dropped it. the hard drive was non-recoverable. he lost footage he was to send to his skate sposors. hope that helps.

Pictures are blurry and out of focus

If you've followed all stpes to take a good photo and all you get is a blurred image, you can't really do anything else. Your Olympus Digital Camera is quite complex device and I don't believe it you can repair it yoursef. Look for an authorized repair store, ask for a diagnosis and decide if it can be or is worth to be repaired. You can buy a used one in perfect conditons for about 39 USD

Im trying to take closeup pics of jewelry, which is the reason I purchased this 12x zoom. I am using the super macro feature but my pics are blurry. Can you give me any tips? Deb

In super macro mode, there is a minimum focussing distance. Any closer, and you have no hope of locking in a focus. So, be sure you don't go past this point.Close up pics have a very shallow "depth of focus" meaning that very little in front or behind what you focussed on will be in focus. Is anything in focus in your pics? If you can exert some manual control over lens openings, you could try using a smaller opening to get more of your subject in focus. When taking close-ups, always use a tripod.

Plastic part at end with "hook" on the leg of tripod is broken and despite trying at least three different types of super glues and epoxy I cannot repair it.

The tripod cannot be repaired unless you can find something at a hardware store. Toys R Us (they sell this scope) do not have any parts. A replacement tripod will cost more than the scope is worth. We receive more complaints about this telescope than just about any other brand.

Next time buy something like this:

Pentax me super camera, not working wind on lever

The clip spring broke jambing the advance gear. by forcing, the tab on the advance shaft broke.
take or send your camera to a camera repair shop for an estimate cost to repair.
there are no new parts for this model so the repairs could be expensive.
there should be no cost for an estimate.

Focus in Macro mode

1. Do not use the zoom while using macro. 2. When clicking the Macro button, click it again, only for 2 more seconds at the second click, it goes to 'Super macro' mode for zero distance. This works in the Canon S3 IS, I hope it will help you in the older S2 IS. 3. Use a tripod. 4. Use the timer for no movement when using a tripod. 5. Try using the manual focus, it does the trick when the camera doesn't focus automatically. Good Luck!
