The lid switch will need a slight adjustment to properly activate, or you could bend the raised bump on the back of the lid out a bit so it activates the switch better.

The cycle stops in the middle of the wash, rinse, etc. You have to push down on the lid to make it run again.....this is a pain resulting in the laundry taking hours to get done and close monitoring.

This is usually caused by a bad lid cam and plunger. The lid cam is located on the back of the lid which pushes the plunger into the lid switch. Replace these parts and your all set.

You might have a problem with your lid switch. If your timer is stuck right around the rinse cycle where it usually drains out all of the water, check your lid switch located on the rim where the lid closes. If you use a flathead screwdriver to push it you should hear it click.

I was washing clothes -- in the rinse cycle and the washer just stopped -- I think right before it was to drain the water. I redistributed clothes, turned the knob until it was in the rinse cycle again...

It sounds like your lid switch is bad . Raise the lid , and insert something into the lid switch hole on the top ( where the lid actuator goes into the hole ) , to see if the washer drains . Without your complete model number , can't give you a part number .

Kenmore washing machine model 110 wash cycle stops

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)

Washer stopping mid-cycle

Push down on lid. You may have a bad lid switch. Start machine and press the switch down with something like a screwdriver and see if the motor runs.
