Whirlpool refrigerator leaks inside

My Whirlpool refrigerator, model GT22DKXGN01 with freezer on top, leaks inside the refrigerator. It's dripping from the mechanism that's centered in the middle top area of the fridge. There is Styrofoam on the inner portion of this mechanism. Model was manufactured in 1999 and is a Type 6.5 amp.

Please provide very simple, detailed instructions on how this can be repaired. Many thanks!

HI, First thing you do is remove the floor panel of the freezer. Do you see ice?
If there is ice, remove the rear wall of the freezer as well and start removing the ice. There will be down inside the drain hole also. A hair dryer works great for this project.
Please do not use sharp object/tools.
Now that you have the ice out of the drain, There is an after market drain transfer heat strip kit you need to buy and add.
Please let me know if I can help you. I have the kit on my web site www.whirlpoolpartssurplus.com

Thanks
Vic

Water leaking from icemaker on outside

If this is your water dispenser leaking
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

Kenmore elite - Water dripping from freezer to refrigerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze

WATER DRIPS DOWN FROM INSIDE TOP REFRIGERATOR BELOW FREEZER

Not an original solution - but a good one. Remove panels at the back of the freezer compartment to expose the heater unit or heater wire that defrosts the freezer coils and wrap a solid copper wire gently around the heater/ heater wire and place the loose end in the drain. This will conduct heat to the freezer drain and help keep it open. I did see a manufactured part in one of the appliance parts websites but it did not match my unit.

Our Whirlpool top freezer unit is leaking water into the refrigerator. The model number is ET21NKXGW01 and at the top of the inside of the fridge, water is draining out into the fridge. The defrosting...

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.

The defrost drain is clogged up. I can't say much more because you didn't supply the model #
This may be a drip catch that you can get to from inside the refer or it may be the big tube on the backside of the box.
You may have to take the freezer apart and use a hair dryer to thaw out the ice.
Model numbers are important!
