I had started over 3 other times with the same result. I was going to start again but use the repair. I powered off the pc and just powered up again without pressing F12 and the system restarted setup and is not installing

Your disc is more then likely fine. Understand that when a hard drive has bad sectors on it, you can write to it but when it comes time for the hard drive to run the information to the hard drive it won't be able to so if you can try another known good working hard drive and I think you'll be able to get everything you want installed.

could be having bad sectors on the hard drive, try a different known working hard drive and see if you can run thru the restore disc that way.

Start over again and delete the partition you have made and remake the new partition. If you have done that and it still does not work, then do a repair and when you get to the command line, do a fdisk, you may have master boot record errors.

I have a samsung recovery media disc sp1 does it contain factory settings i got with the laptop

Hard to say from my desk. If you reloaded Windows , you didn't mention which version, all you need to do is Windows and Samsung updates. What Factory settings have you lost? You can put the DVD or CD in the laptop and reboot from disk and see what is on it and abort/cancel or try repair my computer.

How do i restore my pc to factory condition without the disc, when i try and use the disk, there is a disk read error. I've already tried F11 and ctrl F11 at the boot menu.

Turn on the computer.

When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold <Ctrl> and then press <F11>. Then, release both keys at the same time.

In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>.

My 13 year old son laptop need be reset like new

There are a couple possible solutions to your problem. If the computer will still turn on and load windows, and I assume you are using Windows XP, you can try doing a system restore. To do this, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and select System Restore. If system restore is enabled, you should be able to choose a date in the past when the laptop was working properly and restore the computer to that date. If you want to completely reload windows, you will need a Windows XP installation disc. Load the disc in the CD or DVD player and reboot the computer. You should see a screen asking you to press any key to boot from CD, go ahead and press Enter. You will now enter setup where you can reformat the hard drive and reload windows XP. Follow the on-screen instructions to delete any old partitions, and then create a new partition and format it using NTFS. The windows XP installation will continue after the hard drive is formatted. If, when you reboot the computer with the installation disc in the drive, you are not prompted to boot from CD, you may need to reboot and press F2 or F12 to change the boot selection to the CD or DVD drive so it will load the CD first before it tries to load your original Windows installation.

I need a system wipe and reload disc for dell b120 laptop

HI if you need a recovery disc in that case you will have to call dell and ask for the disc it may cost you around $12 or if you have a recovery partition in the computer you can access it and do the same thing for free in xp it works by pressing Ctrl + F11 on startup and then select dell factory image restore and if you have vista you can access it by pressing F8 on startup then select repair your computer and then sign in and select dell factory image restore.

Arm926ejs laptop freezes on startup

You will have to get your operating system reinstalled most likely. You may have a difficult time getting that done, unless you have the recovery disc for your computer. Your computer came from the factory with Windows CE on it. It's sort of a dumbed-down version of Windows XP. You could try to put Windows XP on it. If you can get it to take Windows XP, then it will probably work better anyway. You may be able to get the Windows CE disc from the laptop manufacturer. Try their website.

How to restore to factory settings presario cq50

2 possible solutions to this

1. Use the roll back function of your operating system to roll back to the last back up.

2. Insert your restore disk or Windows disk and do a format/clean install.

If you have a restore disc it will have prompts to "restore" your system and give you a warning about losing data-save off what you want BEFORE doing this restore

If you have standard windows disk you may want to use the format utility in windows first to clean the drive and do a fresh install.

Once installed don't forget to download updates and back up and then reload your other software.

have fun this will take several hours depeneding on the amount of stuff you have to reload and patch up.

Computer wont start up...

It means it cannot find it's operating system or windows to start. When a PC boots it checks for boot devices, usually the floppy, then cdrom, then hard drive, if there is a disk in the floppy or if your pc is set to boot from cdrom and there is a disc in it - it will say OS not found.
The second possible cause is something has happened to windows - either the hard drive has failed or windows has lost it's startup files. If the drive appears to be normal and chatters slightly on startup ( a light clicking noise) then possibly running the original windows install disc and reinstallin windows should fix the problem, on 98 or ME you can re-install, on 2000 or XP try the recover/repair option first.

Need to reinstall Windows.

try pressing the f8 key before the windows icon appears and select safe mode.

under safe mode press no at the begining and a system restore message will appear, just select a date before the problem started and it will restore you settings so the pc will start.

Good luck
