My Alesis io2 is frozen with no sound

I too have this problem. The input meters light up like a Christmas tree (both green, orange and red lights) but there is no sound output to the speakers or a headphone.

This is the case for both the USB direct sound, line input and digital input via S/PDIF.

I have found the service manual, but unfortunately I cannot find any obvious damage. Maybe somebody else has more experience and can pinpoint the problem. The manual is RAR archived in three parts:

If you can fix this problem, please post your solution back here. Thanks.

There are two kind of sound devices that can be inside a pc:
- Integrated on board ( in your motherboard).
- Sound card ( a card that is plugged in one of the motherboard slots).
If you have any installed, you will need to install a software called " Sound driver " for that specific device, in order to make it work.
you can find the software in one of the CDs you get usually with the computer when you buy it.
If you don't have that CD, to find that driver you need to know the kind, model and manufacturer of that device, if you have the integrated one, you should visit the motherboard manufacturer website.
For the card go to the card manufacturer website or do a google search, there are sites where you can get the drivers(the last applies for the motherboard too.)

Hope this help you.

Audio Breaks

Hello vatsala,

Try downloading and installing the latest sound drive available for your motherboard. Here is the link.

If that doesn’t work, try using another set of speakers to make sure it’s not your speakers that are bad and if that doesn't work, you may have a bad sound card and will need to put in new sound card.

US-144 on Windows XP home giving problems

Try Winxp Pro, if it doesn't work then do upgrades one by one to avoid spending too much, increase the memory, the harddisk and the video card...
It needs a lot of space for recording, a lot of memory for processing before saving, and the video card to improve performance of the computer.
Goodluck !!!
