Question about Dell Wireless 2350 Router

Trying to set up a network printer with DELL TRUEMIBILE 2350...please help

I have recently reformated and re-installed programs on a Dell Demensions 4500 Desktop and a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop. I am using Windows XP Home. I have my desktop setup with an ethernet cable into the router and the laptop connected wirelessly.
What I am trying to figure out is if I can print from the wireless laptop through a printer hooked up to the desktop.
I am new to networking and have tried many different approaches. If this is possible, I would appreciate step by step instructions on how to accomplish this. I hope to hear a solution soon. Thank you for your time and effort.

When I click on View Workgroup Computers it comes up with an error message. "The list of servers for this workgroup are currently unavailable"

Also, I don't know if this helps with the problem but I tried pinging both computers and the laptop can ping the rounter and the desktop but the desktop can only ping the router and not the laptop.

Thank you for all the help and suggestions. Unfortunately, the only reason I was having trouble was because Norton Internet Security was blocking it. I am so stupid to not realize this from the beginning. Thanks again for all the help.

Using windows xp on all the computers, when you connect to the printer windows should automatically install drivers.

1. Goto My Computer, Click My Network Places (Explorer Bar).
2. Click View Workgroup Computers (Explorer Bar)
3. Find the computer that has the printer physically connected to it, open it
4. Find the printer and right click it!
5 Select Connect... and wait for the drivers to install.

this should install the print drivers and install the printer on your computer. the printer should now be available in print dialogs i.e. word etc etc and from the Control Panel > Printers window.

My first thought would be to try different forms of encryption on your router. It's possible that your printer may not support the type of encryption you're trying to use which may be causing it to have trouble connecting. For example, if you're using WPA encryption, try switching to a WEP key instead. You can change all of these settings from your Wireless Router's configuration page.

If you went to support.dell.com and keyed in your service tag from the Dimension - dell should allow you to drill down and select the correct one.

Sometimes there are a few - usually from the month to month the machines were made the drivers can be different.
I have had to open the case and get the model number off the device before

I have seen that in most of the cases (with lexmark and dell printers) it is fixed by reinstalling the printer software. Be sure that you completely remove the older drivers using the cd or using add/remove programs.

Undoubtedly, it's asking for the administrator information. User name is admin and password is admin. The link will show you the default settings for the router should you have to reset it.

Ethernet controller

Hello,

More than likely this is the one that you need. It is for a Broadcom NIC. If that one doesn't work, they have this one for a Gigabit NIC listed here. I would start withe the integrated NIC divers. Both files have download instructions on the page if you need it.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

please configure the router properly, see if you have enable dhcp on the router and the dell machine is may be using a static ip address, if that is the case disable the static ip from the dell machine and enable the get ip dynamically.
