Pointer not showing

IF you can get a USB mouse, plug it in, and see if the pointer shows up.... IF so, you can go to the next step... IF not there is a major issue.
IF you do see the pointer, look along the top of the keyboard for a "f-key" that looks like your touch pad (it may be just a rectangle), press and hold the "Fn" key (found along the bottom of the keyboard towards the left side) and then press the "f key" the you found along the top, then release both keys together...
Hope this helps.

Cannot use keyboard pointer controls

Go to Acer's website and find the support link. There will be somewhere on there to download drivers for your laptop (you'll need a serial number). Find the one for your touchpad/pointer and install it.

Unlock keyboard for a Acer AS7540-1284

The Keyboard is locked? Or do you mean maybe the mouse pointer is locked? Look on your keyboard and see if you see anything that resembles a mouse touch pad. Some systems will lock the touch pad, but it can be unlocked by hitting a combination of keys, such as holding the FN key + the key with the touchpad icon.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

Compaq notebook laptop: my mouse pointer or arrow is

If you have a manual for the notebook, check to see if you can use the function key and the similarly coloured key on the keyboard which enables/disables the touch pad. Usually you can disable the mouse pointer touch pad with this FUNCTION key + MOUSE key when pressed together. Often these keys have the same colour (usually blue). The purpose is to disable the touch pad when you are using an external USB or wireless mouse, then you press the 2 keys again together to enable the touch pad once you have removed the USB/wireless mouse.

If that doesn't work, borrow a USB mouse and attach it to your notebook to use temporarily while you diagnose the problem.

My letters and words will randomly go in different places

Have you checked the moue and keyboard settings see if there is something in the settings...one computer I would recommend to check the keyboard wiring but with two that would be quite a coincidence. If the mouse is chasing the cursor then its got to be a software issue..also run spyware software on both. Spyware captures keystrokes so could be affecting the keyboard pointer settings.

remove the battery and run of the mains. Most likely that the battery is faulty and causing all the components to run slowly.

Kill the cat. Just kidding, I have two myself. They sure love laptops. Pull the battery out and unplug for an hour. Any change? The laptop might have overheated. I'm answering your question a day late. Did you get it to work?
