SOURCE: Red light and thumping sound,

If your talking about the thump thump sound thru the sub when in standby mode, here's a fix if your good with a small soldering iron. Remove the amp from the sub. Locate U301 on the limit curcuit. (the small circuit card standing up right) Replace U301 with a TL074IN (www.alliedelec.com part #248-0012) .35cents +S/H also remove R263 from the preamp board, add a new 1N4148 diode(#935-0242) .05 cents to the pre amp board. Connect the Anode of the new diode to the Anode of D101 and the Cathode of the new diode to the Cathode of D108. Replace amp and test. Thump thump should be gone.

SOURCE: a low frequency all the time from the subwoofer. Infinity tss-450 (120 vac)

Try hooking the speaker into a different input device if the problem still occurs most likely the built-in amplifier is shot & has a bad capacitor or other component. You can also try remove all RF emoting devices far away from speakers like cell phones, devices with motors like fans, or any other wireless device or least turn them off. Sometimes other devices on the same A/C circuit can cause interference, computers, tvs, etc.

Why does Infinity TSS-1200 subwoofer make grinding noise?

If it isn't brand new, it sounds like the voice coil is striking. This can be caused by damage to the suspension system or simply an overheated voice coil inside the sub. No easy fix unless your handy at rebuilding speakers. I would suggest buying a new one or sending back under warranty if it is still within warranty period

Subwoofer pulses every two seconds, outputs no audio from reciever

Suggestions:

to rule out a receiver problem

Have you tried connecting the subwoofer to another product, other than the one you usually use ? A computer, I-pod, portable CD player, etc...any music source with the proper cable.

If sub still has problem:

One year factory warranty on the electronics. (with proof of purchase)

To find a local service center near you:

  • go to www.infinitysystems.com
  • Choose the correct category - Car Audio or Home Audio, then Enter
  • Click link on left: Product Support; in the Product drop-down list choose the TSS450 (120v) and then Submit button.
  • When the screen refreshes, click on the link Service Station Locator near the bottom
  • Enter ZIP code and warranty status, then Continue
  • A list of service centers closest to you will display.

My subwoofer is making a regular thumping noise every 3 or 4 seconds. I had it unplugged for along time and just hooked it back up. It makes the sound regardless of where its plugged in and even if it's...

if you can replace the subwoofer, do it! Unless, your whole sound system is based on it. problem inside of subwoofer's internal amp. It's an active subwoofer, must be replaced with same kind. otherwise, take unit to local repair shop for diagnostics and repair. it might be some capacitors gone bad, may be IC chip is at fault. anyway, not do it yourself, unless you're an electronics expert.
good luck,
