Question about Washing Machines
It's about a 1990 top loading Kenmore. It has worked well for years. For the last several months there has been a screeching sound during the rinse and spin cycle. I thought it might need oiling, but I did not see any place to oil. Today after getting half way through the spin cycle it stopped spinning, but the motor continued to hum pretty strongly.
My first thought was the belt, but I haven't checked. Incidently, when and if I do disconnect it, should I disconnect the hoses from the faucets or from the washer?
Neither. shut water off at facuet to prevent possible damaged to valve. check brake and clutch assembly. check drive basket.
