Merrychef EC 401 Blower drive Part no 30Z1128.

while you have supplied few details as to the parts you require , there are important details left out .
people have to know the type of gears involved --spur cut , bevel, spiral beval
wheel shaft diameter , thickness, drive cog shaft dia , thickness
find a retailer that handles power transmission products such as CBC bearings ( yes they do sell cogs)
I went and searched wheels and pinions for small applications and found sites that sell wheels and pinions but not knowing all of the information , pinning down a manufacturer was a no go
if you take what you have to a local engineering shop , many have the ability to cut gears from blank stock and ask the price and shop around or they could have a supplier that they can put you on to
as a point of interest , the cog that is stripping (4) may be the weak point in the drive line to prevent damage to the rest of the machine in an overloaded or jammed situation

Why do kids mature faster today than they did 50 years ago ?

They don't, in fact 50 years ago kids left school to work at 14 at lot more than today. There are fewer apprenticeships and fewer manual trades in western countries now. Changes in diet, and the introduction of convenience foods may have led to less malnutrition, but not much. The 60's were good times. Go back to 19th Century slums and things were a lot different, but today US kids are not joining the navy at 14, and can't have a have a beer legally until 21. Most places make it hard to get married under 16. There were a lot of misconceptions about "maturity" 50 years ago, published and taught as gospel. Modern media also means that aberrations and exceptional incidents are more likely to be reported, sensibilities having less right to be offended by the reading of such matters. This is not an academic forum, and most people here are not trolling, but scope exists for this type of question to attract all sorts of theories involving hormones, GM foods, soy products, unleaded petrol etc. Empirical facts ?

Dial won't set

you can possibly remove the knob itself, and see if you can turn the dial itself. if you can, then you can probably see the knob is broken. if if the shaft turns, but doesn't move the gears, then you will just need a new dial switch.

Load size dial on washer spins freely instead of moving to setting

That setting has to do with how much water is let into the drum. You can get a new switch for that. If you post the model number.

The auto focus on my Sony A is not working. It

Usually the gears will strip the lens gears which tend to be plastics whereas Sony a cameras themselves have metal driven cogs....I once stripped a sigma zoom using an
A700 simply because the motor on that camera had no feedback on torque...put a different lens to check this out first...then check the faulty lens the cog is visible once you remove the rear mount.

GE top load Super Capacity 16 cycle washer (one year old)

We have a GE WJRR4170 washer, with the same problem. At first I thought I might have to unscrew the entire control panel just to replace the knob. However, replacing it turns out to be easy.

Right behind the knob, holding it in place, is a nylon/plastic retainer clip. If you pull out the knob (into the "start" position), you can use a flathead screwdriver to push the clip out. The knob then will slide easily off the metal stem. A GE replacement knob costs $9 or $10, depending on the source.

Shame on GE, but the knob is designed terribly. The part of it that engages the dial has eight, flimsy plastic teeth. At any time, four of these are supposed to engage four little slots in the dial. However, the way the knob is designed, there will be a lot of wear and tear on these plastic teeth, so they'll wear out on every single machine.

Good luck to the many people who will have this problem!
