Hitachi rear proj TV, light blue vertical streak center screen, moves slowly

All chanels have light, bright, blue streak which moves slowly (changes) in center of screen. Streak appears to begin from top of screen, sometimes if you look closely you can make out some lettering in the streak.

Re: Hitachi rear proj TV, light blue vertical streak...

Had this problem fixed. It is a common problem caused by dust brought in by the fan into the projection area of the set adjoining the projector lamp.....had to be replaced .... EXPENSIVE!

Pls check that model number........the problem description does not match that of a 1999 crt proj tv.........I believe yours is a newer lcd projection around 4 or 5 yr old?? Lamp light flashing on any brand is indicative of the lamp not lighting . The lamp is the most likely cause, but the ballast board can cause this as should see an access door refer to owner book of the correct model and you can replace may cost around $200 and avaiolable at encompass parts .com Hitach distributor

Blue streak and no red on Hitachi 50V500A rear projection TV

Check a second source such as a dvd player or game system using different cables. If the same issue happens then the tv will need repair. However if the issue is not the same it is either cables or the original source.

Convergence lines are SLANTED. Red line is above

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Need to move a 57 inch hitachi rear screen proj TV

No, do not attempt this as you will damage the unit if you try to take it apart and reassemble it. They are not built for dis-assembly and re-assembly. They are easily damaged. Rather, rent a large industrial hand truck and use several straps to secure it to the hand truck and about three men to help you. It is about the only way to do it.

Be careful... there is a fragile mirror inside which can be broken if bumped abruptly.

Hitachi 50UX19K

in the tv menu or on the front of the tv there is an adjustment to align the color guns ( there are three, red blue and green). it will come up as a black screen with a color cross in the center. while this may clear up your problem the cross doesn't always clear it up completely. if the set is really old you might consider a new one.

PT-47WX, Blue streaks across the screen?

It is not a bulb. It is a picture tube. If there are thin blue lines across the entire screen, not just the edges, and the picture itself looks too blue, it means that the blue picture tube is being driven too hard. This could be because the blue screen voltage is too high, the boost voltage on the blue picture tube is too low, or the video output is leaky or shorted. If the picture has what looks like blue arcs and double images on one or more sides of the picture, it means that one of your convergence IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. These are things that should be tested and serviced by a qualified tech, so allow an experienced tech to handle it for you.
