The problem appears because you do not have proper drivers either for your graphics card or monitor.If the windows does not find the right drivers, it installs the default drivers.Thus, you may not be able to push further than a particular refresh rate.Install the right driver for your monitor and increase the refresh rate.

this is a 2002 laptop, 7 years or more old, are the ide controllers for the hard drive on the motherboard on a attached printed corcuit board[pcb] or are they built into the 20gb hard drive which came with the laptop and should the cmos battery be 7.4 volts as new cause the cmos clock is not keeping time and when i checked cmos battery the voltage was 3.4 volts. With this ambios and intel 815em chipset i am told that the 20gb hard drive is the largest hard drive i can use with this motherboard, is this correct,please advise on these issues.
