Question about Maytag Dependable Care LAT9706
I have a Maytag washer model lat9734aae that quit working when I lifted the lid during a wash cycle to adjust the contents. The washing machine just sits there with the "on" light lit.

On older Maytag washers the lid switch doubled as the off balance switch. If the tub wobbled too much it would trip the lid switch and this will not reset until you open the door. The idea is that when you open the door you will adjust the load so that it is not off balance anymore. I don't know if you have one of the models I am referring to or not but if so this is your problem.
