Trouble un-screwing edger blade bolt

I have a craftsman edger and need to change the blade on it. For the life of me I can't get the blade bolt to budge at all. I've tried WD-40, have tried putting wratchet on bolt on opposite side and securely twisting, but having no luck getting the thing to budge. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Was also wondering if anyone has info on sharpening the blade that is on it. OM says not too...didn't know if this is a marketing tool to sell more blades...thanks.

could be left handed threads--------------try tightening the bolt to remove it?

you can use a angle grinder to touch up the blades as long as they are not too thin

It may have left handed threads and needs to be turned clockwise to unscrew. As for sharpening an edger blade...it won't cut any differently. That short blade, traveling that fast and rubbing against concrete is going to do it's job, sharpened or not.

The blade bolt is normally 9/16, you will need a good socket and long tommy bar to remove the bolt, an impact wrench will take it out very quickly if you have or can borrow one,

It's impossible to change a blade on a craftman edger. There is no way loosen the bolt holding the blade

Can you grip the blade and hold it still with say a pair of Vise Grips and remove the bolt that way? Lock the grips on the blade and then when it turns will it jam itself against the blade guard allowing removal. What type of bolt actually holds the blade on? Post back with more details.

Does the bolt on the blade come off counterclockwise or clockwise.

If you are facing the blade from where the bolt is, and the blade's normal operation is to turn counter-clockwise, then the bolt will loosen counter-clockwise. This is universally true for any blade which is held on by a center bolt (table saws, grinders, etc.) This is because the motor is turning the shaft counter-clockwise, and the resistance against the blade as it does it's work is clockwise - thus tightening the blade rather than loosening it. If the blade normally turns clockwise, then the bolt will loosen clockwise.
