My laptop will not start up, I have owned it for over 2 years upgraded memory when I first bought it an have not added anything new to it recently. No power indicator Lights, no fan spin up. Ive tried unplugging the power supply, removing the battery an holding the start button for 30 seconds an then plugging in the power supply to reset it, but to no avail. The power supply is functional (19.4 VDC) checked with a multimeter.

Re: Acer Aspire 3690 Laptop is dead
You may have a broken power jack in the laptop. Inspect the power jack and see if the center pin moves at all. It should be fairly solid. If you find a bad jack your local repair shop may be able to repair it or you can get a jack from Ebay and solder it yourself.
I hope this helps, Buddy www.ccl-la.com Corporate Computer

Memory Upgrade for Acer Aspire 5630-6760 Notebook (DDR2-533MHz) Laptop, the Acer Aspire 5630-6760 Notebook (DDR2-533MHz) Laptop takes the Memory Type, and comes installed with 0MB of Memory. You can upgrade your Acer Aspire 5630-6760 Notebook (DDR2-533MHz) Laptop to up to a maximum of 4GB Memory, the system has 2 (2 banks of 1) to install Memory, already with 0MB standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.
On most laptops there are only 2 things that you can upgrade with ease. The first is the size of the harddrive and the second is the amount of RAM you have in your system.
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. If SIMS3 is needing a better graphics card or a faster processor you cannot upgrade those to easily. To do those you would actually have to physically take apart the laptop.
Your laptop may just not recognize and not even boot up if you exceed the memory limit. It will not harm the laptop if you give it a try with the 4gb. However, sometimes caution is a good thing. It all depends on what you are trying to do on your acer. If you haven't already, remove the old memory sticks and replace it with the 1 2gb memory stick. Work with it for a little while (this should not give you a problem). If you feel the laptop is still too slow....let me know...I will look up the compatibility with the memory and your laptop.
Well, it would be easier (and cheaper) to download the drivers from Acer's website. Go to: http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acer/bin/acer.html#app=2766&1adb-selectedIndex=0&e590-selectedIndex=1&9875-selectedIndex=1&796e-selectedIndex=1&ae20-selectedIndex=1
and select your exact model. You will find all the drivers there.
As for windows, what version is it upgradable from and to what?
