Frequent sudden loss of radio signal

After about 5 to 10 minutes radio play suddenly the signal dissapears of all stations. The volume indicators keeps moving like there is stil sound. Switching over to CD gives normal sound. Switsching off and after about a minute on again brings back the signal for about one minute after which it disappears again and so on.
What could be wrong??
This magnificent systems works already for ten years perfectly untill now.

Is it the wrong settings? or , you need to repair this unit.

It looks like the problem is solved by adding an extra mass to the system.

MT1500 shows full battery but beep's like it's dead

Hello
This double beep tone you are hearing is a acknowledgment tone indicating that the radio is in the transmitting mode. On the Motorola MT1500 radio you can adjust the tone volume separate from the reception volume by simply holding down the volume control and setting the tone volume level.

Tuning-suddenly stopped. knob turns, yet does not move station indicator bar and i cannot change station. all else works fine. options?

TAKE THE KNOB FO AND SEE IF IT WILL TURN BUY HAND IF SO JUST PUT A BIT OF PAPER ROUND IT AND PUSH THE KNOB BACK ON AND IT SHUOD GO

On my 2004 X Type Jag only the volume switch works on the radio unit its self cant change stations play cd of use the steering wheel controls as i said all i can do is turn the volume up or down? any ideas...

Did you find the problem with your radio Terry? I have a 2005 X type and the radio has just suddenly started doing exactly the same thing - cant change radio station or use steering controls, only the volume knob works.

Before you dive off into electronics, first set it on a channel and throw a cover over the front of it to cover up the infrared receiver input. It may be something in the room transmitting spurious signals.

Could be a bad connection in between radio and antenna . Check that first . If that doesn't work try a film strip antenna

u can measure the speakers impedance, if is ok. I think this can be a problem, when is speakers with 4ohm conected.

Either this is typical shortwave reception characteristics, or you intermittent antenna connection.
