Memory card locked

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Power wont turn on

Hi,
If the camera will not power up then please check the following:
1. That the batteries are inserted correctly. Two should be facing upwards and two downwards. With the camera facing you (upside down) then the first battery on the left should have the positive terminal up, the second down, third up and last one down. If this does not work then ensure the slider switch to close the battery cover is fully closed - sometimes this sticks - as this closes a microswitch. If the camera still does not work then a fuse will have blown in the camera. This would be a very expensive repair. Hope this helps

I have put fresh batteries in my Canon Power Shot S1 camera and it still will not come on? Can you help me?

Contact failures may have occurred between the camera and the batteries.

Confirming that the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is securely closed

If the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] is not securely closed, the power of the camera may not turn on.

Close the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] securely, and then turn the power on.

Clean the battery terminals with a dry cotton swab that has a fine and soft tip, and then re-insert the batteries.

If your camera uses four AA-size alkaline batteries supplied with the camera, follow the procedure below. In addition to Alkaline batteries you may use optional nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.

1. Be sure that the camera power is off.

2. Slide the battery cover lock in the direction of the arrow, and push the battery cover slightly forward. Then open the cover.

Installing batteries in cameras with 2 batteries. If your camera uses two AA-size alkaline batteries supplied with the camera, follow the procedure below. How do I unlock memory card on my canon powershot sd450?

Remove the SD card from your camera and look at it closely. You'll see a small switch which is used to lock the card to protect your data. You will most likely find that the switch is set to the locked position. If it isn't, slide the switch fully to the locked position and then fully back again before trying the card again in your camera.

If this fix has helped then please return the favour by rating my answer. If you still have a problem then please add a comment and I'll come back with further suggestions.

Memory card is locked w. Canon Powershot SD1000

Your Sd1100 is compatible with a 4gb card, so that's not the issue. If the lock-switch is in the correct position, the only logical conclusion (which you have already come to.....good troubleshooting on your part!) is that the camera is busted. Send your two "friends" the bill. What a drag.

Hi. My Canon Powershot sd400 is telling me there is a " memory card error"...and "Card Locked!". Any idea how to fix this? Heidi

Hi!
You have to unlock your memory card. All memory cards have this small lock mechanism on the side.

Make sure that the slider is on the UNLOCK position. If it's already on the UNLOCK position and you are still getting the same error message, try to set it to LOCK, then set it back to UNLOCK position.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

The memory card slot is not accepting the memory card

CHECK TO SEE IF THE SMALL PROTECT TAB SWITCH HAS BEEN CLOSED ON THE CARD. IT'S JUST BELOW THE TOP EDGE. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK BORROW A FRIENDS CARD AND SEE IF IT WILL CLICK INTO THE SLOT. OK? IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, REPLY TO: ARCLIGHT1217.
