1 Answer

I am looking for a replacement motor for a delta band saw. The part number is 1345071. Of course this part is no longer avaiable. Is there a direct substitute?

All you need to do is find a motor with the correct frame and the same size arbor, so the pulley will fit. The hp is up to you.
The NEMA frame size should be on the motor plate of your current motor. Here are a couple of links to nema and IEC (metric) frame sizes, in case you can't find it. Baldor is a reputable brand, but others are easily available online. See here, for example.
This link will provide more details if you're interested.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, that model saw is already discontinued. I suggest you call or email Tool Parts Direct or Delta. I only have band saw machine, I'm thankful that bandsawparts.com makes aftermarket parts for all brands of band saw.

Delta 28-160 band saw 3 wheel, blade keeps coming off

Sounds like your tracking screw needs adjustment, located right beside the knob used for tightening after adjusting the tension on the blade. Allen wrench required. Turning right pushes out and turning left pulls it in. A little is a lot when adjusting this screw. Always turn the blade in the same direction as the cut while adjusting.

A site I like for parts breakdowns, www.ereplacementparts.com, shows they have three of these available. You can search on the site by part number or the model number of your saw.

My Delta band saw motor is having issues. I was

I would bet it's the Motor Brushes. They are locaded on the housing of the saw, accesed by unscrewing the plug. The brushes are replaceable and your saw will be fixed.Where to buy replacents could be an issue,Check manufacturer or search power tool replacement motor brushes. If stuck you can try to unscrew the plug the brush is at the bottom engaging the motor armerure, there shoud be a spring keeping contact.Inspect brush condition it looks like a carbon block worn to the curve of the motor.Go online do a search on how electric motors work you'll see exactly what I'm explaining.Cheap part easy fix.Good Luck.
