ASUS A7V8X-LA front audio wires unplug frm motherbd -no sound now

I'm very inexperienced when it comes to dealing with motherboards. I was swapping out my extra hard drive and swapping my dvd drive (which I've done before) and now I have no sound at all... I believe I may have pulled out some wires accidently that deal with the audio. A friend of mine actually transferred my computers internals into a new case for me a few years ago and I remember him mentioning that the front audio had to be hooked up or the audio would not work at all... (Friend is on vacation and no idea when he'll be back). I see one plug that has 1 red and 1 black wire at opposite ends of a 4 whole plug labeled ''speakers'' also I see a bundled strand of wires labeled as follows in order:
Blue--Return L
grey--Return R
white--Spkout L
green--Spkout R
black--GND
yellow--Mic-Bias
red--Mic-In
I see a spot on the motherboard labeled front audio that has nothing connected and it has 9 pins - 4 on top and 5 on bottom and was wondering if that maybe where they go but I still have no idea in what order.

If you have a sound card, plug it into that. If not there should be a place on the mother board where you can plug it into. Just look at the motherboard very closely and you'll find a place to plug it into. Different motherboards have them in different places, so it could be almost anywhere.

I dont know, my new setup mother has no sound.

That's no problem just download, and install the Audio Driver.

Asus Support > Asus A7V8X-X motherboard > Driver download page,

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7V8X-X&p=1&s=10&hashedid=YcXfRrWHZ9RKoVmw

On this page click on the blue down arrow, to the right of the OS: box.
(Select OS)

Click on the Operating System you are using.
I clicked on WinXP for an example.

There is one Audio file listed.
Click on the + sign to the left of - Audio (1)
Now click on - Global (DLM)
(Sometimes China is a better server connection)

If you need guidance in downloading, or installing, post in a Comment.

Sata unable to recognize my book 500gb

The A7V8X-LA motherboard only supports SATA1. Your new hard drive is likely SATA2 (SATA-II). You'll likely need to change jumpers on the drive to make it compatible with SATA1.

It's a tiny bit slower than SATA2 (okay, twice as slow). But, it's still faster than PATA (IDE).

AlienWare has really good stuff.

those are notoriously bad boards. i have worked on 2 or 3 of those boards and founds its adefect on some voltage regulator on motherboard..
best thing u can do is upgrade motherboard and cpu and ram in a combo.. don't forget power supply unit, new stuff needs at least 350watts
