Question about Audio Players & Recorders

My I-pod rests against the grill face of my Altec lansing M602, causing a buzz. I need a piece that changes the angle of my I-pod to more vertical, about 5 to 10 degees to stop thebuzz. Where do I get one, and how do I remove the old one? My I-pod is the 30 Gig model serial# 8m642gq5v9k. Thank you. Steve Hopkins

I've been placing something soft in between since I first used the M602 docking station. I was told by employees at Radio Shack and Best Buy's both that Altec Lansing had a different dock configuration available and that I could get it from them. I couldn't figure out how to remove the factory piece and didn't know how to contact Altec, so I contacted you. What is available to fix this problem? Both Best Buy's Nd Radio Shack said I should have had alternative pieces in my original shipping carton, but I did not. Steve

The website: europealtec is invalid. Where can I get the adapter and which one of the 3 is it? Steve

  • hopkinssteve Jun 20, 2009

Did you get my response that the europe@alteclansing is a dead link?

  • hopkinssteve Jun 20, 2009

I hand typed the europe altec address and received a failure notice 2 minutes later. Any other ideas?

I contacted altec lansing on line and they are sending me the adapter kit for my model M602 ipod dock. They said others have had the same problem, and they have a kit with 3 different adapters. By the way, Altec said that it is a universal adapter and that apple also has them for $9.95 so that will solve my problem. Since I solved the problem with help from altec lansing and not from you, I don't think I should have to pay you. How do I close out my business with you? Steve

The Altec should have come with 3 adapters in total. You can remove the one already installed by using your fingernail in the indentation to pull it out. Here is a diagram to illustrate better.

As for getting replacements, you may have to contact Altec using the following e-mail address to see if they can send you the adapters: europe@alteclansing.com

Sorry for the faulty link. My advice would be to send them an e-mail to europe@alteclansing.com. If clicking on that link doesn't open your e-mail client, you'll need to copy and paste it into to To field of your e-mail, and let them know that you require the internal adapters for the various players that can fit into the adapter.

I can't find these internal adapters anywhere. Your best bet would be to see what they reply.

    Best regards

I've just tested the link, and it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. You'll need to send them an e-mail, manually typing that e-mail address into the To field. Regards.

Seems they don't give the correct e-mail address. Sorry, not sure where else you could get the extra adapters I'm afraid.

Thank you for your message. I'm glad to hear you have been able to acquire the new adapters. I have checked the e-mail address I provided to you previously and my message did get through. Without sounding rude, may I please have the address you contacted them on successfully please?

    Regards

As far as I know that piece is not replaceable try placing something soft between the ipod and the face to get rid of the buz.

The package should have contained parts / adapters for different kind of ipods. but I don't think that there is actually a part that adjusts the angle.

Power cord makes a chirping sound and won't supply power to M602. Do I need to buy a new power cord and if so where?

My experience is that when AC adapters start making strange sounds, they're no longer usable (or at least reliable), and need to be replaced.

I'd suggest calling Altec Lansing to see where you can get a replacement power supply.

M602 Speaker Problem,.. Popping Sound

This worked for me on my M604: Try inserting/removing a headphone plug into the jack several times to see if that clears the problem.

The "popping" sound is very similar to the sound that the unit makes when inserting headphones into the 'headphone' jack on the back of the unit.

The jack has a contact switch that triggers a relay inside the unit. If that contact switch is 'on the verge' of making contact, slight temperature changes may cause deform closer to it's contact target. The subsequent capacitance build-up and discharge across the gap could explain the cycle of popping noises after the unit warms up.

Dented front speaker grills.

Usually a push fit , so gentle leverage with a knife blade perhaps.
But if the grill is metal then undoing the damage may not be worth the attempt because working the metal will almost certainly stretch it and make it worse.
