Will not go through spin cycle washer stops and alarm sounds

I have an eco smart fisher & Paykel top loader. I think i overloaded it. I took out half the clothes and unplugged the machine to sit for a couple of days. Then plugged it back in and now it will wash and rinse but not spin. I looked on the internet for solutions and one thing i found said to hold power and start down till you hear the three beeps turn it off and then on again and then press start. It went back to wash and then it gets to spin and stops and alarms sound. It gets to spin and stops and the alarms go off.
Thanks mel

My washer is a gwl15 eco smart the problem is it will not spin. I am worried about the motor. Could i have done something to the motor or agitator by overloading it?

My GWL15 lessthan6 months old will not go into spin cycle after rinse cycle it stops and alarm goes off. i had a very small load in the washer and added a blanket. I am afraid I overloaded it. I took the blanket out and tried to restart it. it would not at first but after unplugging and resetting it it will go all the way to spin cycle and will not spin then it shuts off and alarm sounds. The problem is in the motor itself..check bushings it might have been disaligned..align and lubricate..it might be getting stucked and draws more current that triggers the alarm and stop it..another scenario is the capacitor...when it start to fail, the motor cannot provide the necessary torque to spin the load and draws more current..the worst case scenario is the motor windings...

pull out motor
run and check if it stalls
yes..lubricate and spin by hand until it smooths..
run again
if stalls again then check bushings and realign..

if the motor runs slow at no load then the capacitor must be replaced..

Hi

Check that the pump motor isn't clogged -

Go into 'Diagnostic mode'

Press and hold Water Temperature Down button, then press Power On. The Display will change to Diagnostic Mode.

In this mode 6 min wash LED should be on
Spin LED should be on
Low water level LED should be on

Pushing the 'REGULAR' wash button should turn the pump on and off. If there is water in the bowl (add some from bucket) - it should flow out when the LED is on - if it doesn't - the pump is jammed (usually coins).

If it is -
disconnect the power
turn the machine upside down
The pump is secured by a lever on the side of the pump fitting -it's pretty obvious, pull the lever away from the pump (but first disconnect the power cable - just pull the green connector and the earth connection) - and rotate the pump motor so that it disengages and lift out - remove rubbish - teddy bear's eyes, cufflinks, keys, coins, and bits of old rug - make sure that the rotor on the pump rotates freely, and that there is nothing left in the cavity.

Replace pump - rotating it until it is back into its original
position.

Reconnect the power cable

Put the machine upright

and it should be fine.

Btw - Fisher and Paykel washing machines MUST be turned off at the wall when you are finished - especially in humid environments - failure to do do results in eventual destruction of the 'out of balance' switch and/or the motor position detector. Both are expensive and unnecessary repairs. Being 'always on' also wastes money and electricity (even though there is no light which warns you that it is in fact ON!).

(other useful buttons in Diagnostic mode) -
Wash Temp down - Cold water valve
Wash temp up - Hot water valve.
Reaching under the top splash sheet - to the right - you will feel the 'out of balance' switch - pushing it away from the tub should make the 4 min wash LED come on (push the whole tub to the right hand rear corner).

If you have a friendly F and P installer, ask for the 'Diagnostic Info Sheet' - it's about 10 pages long).

Fisher & Paykel Intuitive Eco switching itself off during cycle.

Could be a bad drain pump or controller or rotor position sensor. You will need a Tech to take a look. Unfortunately with these machines there can be many reasons for a failure. Call F/P to get a certified technician out there.
