Eltron P310C I need to adjust the printhead temperature. I used to do this using a serial port on my laptop, but I no longer have that available and I don't recall how to do it. Does anyone know how I can use a USB to serial adapter and what I need to do to talk to the P310C, to set the head resistance to the proper value?

I got it working by selecting the Zebra manufacturer, EPL2 driver.

Make sure you have at least 10 sheets of paper loaded.

Turn the printer off for at least 5 seconds, hold down the Tear-Off button, turn it back on, then release the button when the language menu starts printing.

After the language menu prints, verify the left and right Font light are off and the Pause light is on (for English). If not, press the LF/FF button until the lights are lit in this order. Press the Tear-Off button to select English.

Once the current settings print, press the Tear-Off button to enter setup. Follow the directions to change the serial port settings.

Forget about using parallel converter. Just use the USB cable it works best anyway.

Easiest way is this.

1: Turn printer on. (Green light. ready to print)

2: DISCONNECT the usb cable from the PC.

3 DELETE the Zebra LP2844 & Zdesigner drivers from the printers & Faxes folder. Just highlight them and hit the delet key. Don't worry Iknow what I'm doing.

4: Plug in your USB cable back into PC.

Just sit back and wait, your PC will automatically detect your printer and re-load your driver software.

Yes the problem is with your printer port setting, to view or to correct the printer port setting,
- go to CONTROL PANEL
- click or open Printer or Faxes
- right click your Lexmark printer and click properties
- a menu will appear, choose or click PORT tab
- at the Port tab listing, choose USB port and click ok after choosing the right port.

then you should be able to print properly after the right configuration.
