Is L2 for composite video (yellow) or S-Video? Try watching a video on L2 with the composite video plugged into the back of your TV, if it works, then do the same with the DVR, if that works, then run the DVR composite video into a receiver, then the L2 from the VCR to the video out on your receiver. It's possible that the VCR won't record anything that isn't an applified signal. That's what the receiver does.

do not feel bad.......all DVD recorders can not record those channels nor any Disney kid tapes........as you say you can record to VHS (thats it) as of the last season of the Sopranos HBO put that electronic copyright in place...trust me every channel follow once DVD recorders became hot......there was a gadget not sure if its still on the market (Sima copy master is what I use for that last season) I dont use it any more, cant find it really.......

Creating a DVD from digital tape

i took my unit back to electronic express a chain here in tennessee

the guy was baffled at first

then he got a firewire and plugged it into the ilink place on the front of the unit and it copies my old canon recorded tapes just fine

what happened??? who the heck knows --- somehow the chip that prevents the movie copying was reading my old canon recorded tape as copyright -- this somehow bypasses that

if i am not mistaken you can buy attachments to make sure they fit your type of camcorder - my new sony hi def camera came with one - so i had no problem

here is the other kicker --- WHEN I CALLED SONY AND ASKED IF THE ILINK HOOK UP WOULD MAKE THE DUBBING WORK -- THE IDIOT SAID NO he was dead wrong

i will never buy another sony in my life

i stil have not tried to tape movies to dvd and or vhs --- but i already have the machine so i'm stuck with it

what i'd like to know is which combo units do NOT have the blocking chip

could somebody update on the law about this

thanks

i hope this helps

please let me know

Cannot record from cablevision tv

the government required a chip to be put in the recorders to maek sure we are not pirates
in addition the movie people put a flag of some sort across their signal prohibiting us as well

that law was overturned - as you all know we can make copies for personal use - not for sale

however - it is difficult to figure out which ones have it and which ones don't - and which movie companies are not flagging the recordings

Sony is clueless they are a joke -- i asked about the chip and they never, ever answered my question -- avoided it like the plaque

it is archaic - but i suppose we'll have to carry around an old vhs when we want to watch those premium movies that WE PAY FOR !!!!!!!!!
