Check you're thermostats for continuity, they are normally 3 thermostats, reset stats have a button on them please press, if not thermostat its your heating element

Burning smell in dryer

Have you checked the motor? Plenty of lint and dust gets indie it. If you can remove if and use compressed air to blow it out. Also don't overlook the fact all the spade connectors will also collect lots of lint and dust which is quite flammable. Also check the tensioner and guide wheel they get pretty dirty and when they heat up the lint can start buring.

My Kenmore electric dryer runs but no heat.

On the back sides of them dryer is a heating element with a series of safety. The safety would trip if that dryer gets too hot and could cause yo house to burn down. It very well might be a bad heating element but look for air blockages in there that might cause air to overheat from lack of flow. If any sign of air restricting then correct that and hunt down them pesky limitsthemobilian_1718.jpgthemobilian_1719.jpgthemobilian_1720.jpg

Dryer runs for two hours or so and then will not restart

sounds like the motor is overheating, check to see if the duct where the lint filter slides into isn't filled with lint, when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer?also check the vent line to see if it's blocked,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside you can use a leaf blower to blow it out, also vac off the motor and inside the dryer where the motor is,you should do this once a year so you don't have a fire and so your dryer runs like it should,if you have a shop vac blow off the motor and you can blow the lint from the back of the dryer to the front so you don't have to remove the belt and pull out the drum,a layer of lint builds up on the motor overheating it and damaging the motor, also check the outside vent to make sure that isn't blocked with anything, you might have already did some damage to the motor, hopefully after you clean out the dryer your clothes will dry sooner and the motor will last, try not to do one load after another so the motor has time to cool down

I think you've got your bases pretty well covered. I don't see a reason for you to replace the hi-limit as well. At less than an ohm, I see no reason to bother with it.

I just had the same problem, motor runs but no heat. I had a fun time figuring out how take the front panel off, hint the rubber seal comes off easily. It looks like mine tripped the resettable over heat sensor. So far so good.
