Line in use message (by 4 users)

Hello,
I have a Panasonic 2.4 GHz Digital Cordless Answering System model # KY-TG2386B. I have had it for a couple months now and all of a sudden I cannot get a dial tone and I have alot of static, and it says that the line is in use. I do not have any other phones in the house, just my DSL, and Satellite dish for TV. Any help would be appreciated. My manual does not tell what to check for in the case....... faith53@verizon.net
Thank you
I have the same problem.

No dial tone, display says "line in use".
It started out with static on the line. Then suddenly we had no dial tone into base or to the two hands free. Have disconnected/reconnected both batteries, disconnected phonelines and power, but no solution.

I have a Panasonic KX-TG5653 phone and it worked great until we changed service supplier. I was inactive for about 2 weeks and then we changed from AT&T to cable. It hasn't worked since we switched to cable. I doesn't even work at my neighbors house - so the KX-TG5653 phone died for some reason. The phone registers "LINE IN USE" and has a busy signal. The manual does not offer direction for this type of problem.

Does any one have suggestions ... or are we just out a nice phone?

We had the same problem occur even though an older model touch tone phone was working using another jack in the basement. Unplugged the Panasonic from power and telephone jack, and took it to that jack.

When it worked, came back to the original jack, disconnected/reconnected it from the wall, disconnected and reconnected the DSL filter from the line, plugged the Panasonic back into the telephone line and power, and everything started working again.

I had a similar problem and from the menu and Initial settings I switched the line mode from A to B and the In Use button disappeared.
