USB drive is inserted but reports that disk is not inserted

Hi,

I had a Dane-Elec 16 GB USB flash drive that when inserted, Windows reports it is working, but has no disk inserted. The drive was working until I used it at a public computer. Could there be firmware on the drive that's damaged?

Disk Manager says, "Removable Disk: No Media" and tried reinstalling the driver. It still doesn't work.

With the thumb drive inserted in the computer you might try right clicking on “My computer” go to manage and under storage go to disk management. See if your computer reports information on you drive. If not the drive may be damaged or the driver may need to be reloaded

Put in my dane elec 16 gb flash key on my computer window ex and other computer window 2007 not recognized its malfunctioned. light is out... need to get all my important files out..

Files on a flash drive canbe corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive to working order you need to format the flash drive,BUT you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -
