    I have a belkin v3000, pm01105-b

I have worked with belkin yesterday to get the router to work with my isp and embarq dsl modem and finely have the primary working ok. I am reluctant to start changing any of that to connect to the wireless unit. can you tell me what settings you need and i will get them for you.

  • els2911 Jun 20, 2009

I understand. both of these are desktop computers thus the preference to avoid disconnecting everything to make a connection.

on the wireless computer I typed on the address line http://192.168.1.1 with no response other then the continued "unable to display page.

  • els2911 Jun 20, 2009

It didn't say anything except done

  • els2911 Jun 20, 2009

I am not sure why this is unclear I have (2) desktop computers one in correctly connected to a router and isp supplied modem this is working fine. the other computer has a netgear usb connector and is indicating at the bottom right a good wireless connection but internet explorer will not display the internet page.

  • els2911 Jun 20, 2009

The router has already been adjusted by belkin as I explained before, with all due respect I do not believe you are the person to provide the help I need. I will repost the problem for another expert.

I have 2 desktop computers, one is correctly connected to my primary computer through a belkin router and isp provided modem. the other computer has a netgear usb wireless adapter. the wireless computer displays on the lower right an indication that there is a good successful wireless connection however when i try to connect to the internet windows explorer shows the unable to display screen. what advice can you give to help me have a successful wireless connection on the second computer? Thanks

You might try ensuring that all other IP addresses are cleared. WINS must also be cleared. There are a number of areas in which you can put IP addreses, but in this case, you don't want any. You want to ensure that your system is set to assign an IP address by itself, so that means you must have DHCP set to ON. That is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which will set the IP as necessary by itself, and give your second, wireless PC a chance to conect to the internet through yor primary connection, your Belkin Router.
The Belkin, as you see, is set to 192.168.1.30 so your second PC must end up with an IP at least one notch above that, or 192.168.1.31 for it to connect and not conflict.
Clearly a problem is that you're dealing with both Belkin and a second company and due to that, they're not speaking the same language to you and thus to each piece of gear.
Try going the opposite route, and call the second company first, then Bekin second.
Belkin can be a good company, but they can also be difficult to get through to on a logc level.
Or, you can buy an inexpensive D-Link WUA-1340 wireless adapter, which comes with the necessary software and connects to your USB port ... and works like a charm.
I have them on all my PCs in the house, and all 5 PCs connect straight through to the internet through Verion's FiOS and it's a dream setup. Each refurb cost me about $17 but they cost nearly double that new. Either way, it was worth the cost, as I have all PCs available to go out to the internet at the fast speed of FiOs. (FiberOptics). And I'm not sorry I spent the money, even though money is tight here.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

On the second computer do these steps.

Press and hold windows key, press r.
in the run menu type CMD and press enter
type: ipconfig /release (and press enter)
type: ipconfig /flushdns (and press enter)
type: ipconfig /renew (and press enter)

Now can you tell me what it reads on IP and on GATEWAY IP?

After you have written those details down.
Type: ping www.fixya.com (and press enter)

What does it give you?

Are you able to connect the wireless computer with a wire to the internet so I could get a look into the settings?

Can you tell me which belkin router it is? model would be helpful.

  • Ekse Jun 20, 2009

Have you connected the Modem into the correct port on the wireless? on the back of the router you should have 4 ports and one extra that is separate, could say WAN, internet or uplink. that should be connected to your modem.

I assume you have the desktop computer connected in one of the 4 ports.

These wireless set ups are a real pain remotely but are easy when your in the same room.

On the wireless computer writehttp://192.168.1.1 into your browser address and press enter.
Do you get a login prompt or what happens do you get a error message?

  • Ekse Jun 20, 2009

Scroll down the error page look at the very bottom of the page. There should be two or more lines of text.

    Does it say:

    Cannot find server or
    DNS Error
    Internet Explorer
Or what does it read under there?

If I understood correctly you do have both computers connected into the same router other with a wire and other is wirelessly?

  • Ekse Jun 20, 2009

I don't think that it would do any harm to connect both computers with a wire to the router, both computers should work online if the 2nd computer doesn't work right away, restart it.

  • Ekse Jun 20, 2009

The settings in the router need to be adjusted but you are unable to open the setup page, you need to get someone to come over to fix the problem in the router settings.

  • Ekse Jun 20, 2009

I wish you good luck in that case.

It depends. Have you checked the Netgear support site for FAQ and the manual. In some routers, orange lights indicate wired 100Mbps connections while green indicates 1000Mbps. In other cases, blinking lights indicated that the router is 'bricked'.

My netgear usb connects to my wireless belkin..but no internet ?

this message comes when your computer is not getting the IP address from the router.
There are possible reasons for that.
1. DHCP on the router may be disabled.
2. If your network is secured , then you might not be typing the correct network key.

In both the cases , you will need to check the settings of the router.
You will need to access the router set up.

Belkin Notebook card and its wireless access point

Hello,

In Ideal scenarios, you should just plug in the card in the notebook and it should get installed automatically.

Thanyou may scan for the available networks and you should be able to seethe network of your Netgear router(Assuming that the Netgear you havementioned is wireless capable and configured).

You can connect to the network and it should work fine.

Let me know what happens.

Hi there!

Theoretically, it should work with each other. I didn't find any documentation at Belkin's site that states the N1 USB adapter being not compatible with 3rd party devices like your Netgear router.

From what I know is N-Draft's wireless technology should be backwards compatible with both wireless-B and wireless-G devices.

1. Do you have other working wireless devices at your network during that time that you have the N1 USB adapter?
2. Were you able to connect to your wireless network? If Yes, what was your IP address at the wireless computer incase you had the chance to check it?

Maybe you can try to inquire with Belkin about what you've encountered with their device for clarification.

Hope this helps!
