We are on City water, and I find it hard to believe that it would change that much so quickly. The first two week long filter life, I am not sure that the arrows were lined up when the filter was installed. Could this be a cause?

Hi doug,

the cause of the issue will be water minerals as well as hard water particles

using the filter below will be best for you as it has water softening properties that will last longer.

hope this helps.

that is the least of the cause. city water is potable, but still if you put fermented bean bacteria in it, you will still see a lot of hard water traces.

My frigidaire refrigerator has terrible chemical smell

FOUL TASTE OR SMELL IN ICE OR WATER FROM FRIDGE

Check ice and water filter: If equipped, the Ice and Water filter in your refrigerator is responsible for removing any debris or contaminants from your water that may still remain after local water treatment. Most filters contain and are made up of carbon and fabric filter. Over time, the filter may become restricted and reduce the water flow to the ice maker, causing a symptom of little or no ice. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the filter every 6 months but local water conditions may require that you replace more frequently. Lastly a clogged drain line can cause a foul smell and get into the ice and water as we,,.

Water filter is hard to remove.

Hello Marjorie;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I have gone on service calls just to remove a water filter.

1.) If the water filter is on the bottom in the front of the refrigerator; you will need to use a tool such as a wrench, channel locks .... Grab the end of the water filter and turn counter clockwise.

2.) If the filter is in the upper right had corner of your fresh food section; you have to push up hard and turn it counter clockwise. You just have to strong arm it.

This will not always be the case. Your next filter should be easier.

Note: You only need to change your water filter when the water coming out of the water dispenser is slow or your ice cubes are getting smaller. Your filter light is just a 6 month timer. Your water filter can last you 9 months, 1 year, 18 months?

Where is the water filter on my whirlpool model gx2fhdxvy09

Water Filtration System
The water filter is located in the upper right-hand corner of the
refrigerator compartment.
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or
of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before
or after the system. Systems certified for cyst reduction
may be used on disinfected waters that may contain
filterable cysts.
IMPORTANT: The disposable water filter should be replaced at
least every 6 months. If the water flow to the water dispenser or
ice maker decreases noticeably before 6 months have passed,
replace the water filter more often.
Replacing the Water Filter
To purchase replacement water filters, model UKF8001AXX-750
or model UKF8001AXX-200, contact your dealer or call
1-800-253-1301 U.S.A. or 1-800-807-6777 Canada.
IMPORTANT: Air trapped in the water system may cause water
and filter to eject. Always dispense water for at least 2 minutes
before removing the filter or blue bypass cap.
1. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove.
2. Remove sealing label from replacement filter and insert the
filter end into the filter head.
3. Turn the filter clockwise until it stops. Snap the filter cover
closed.
4. Flush the water system. See "Water and Ice Dispenser(s)."
NOTE: The dispenser feature may be used without a water filter
installed. Your water will not be filtered. If this option is chosen,
replace the filter with the blue bypass cap.

well while it may have just been a one thing to another issue by the vehicle overheating it is possible that the original problem was the headgasket leaking which in turn caused the problems in the first place . it is even possiblre that you never needed a radiotor but i can not state this for fact , if the original problem with the vehicle was that the radiotor fluid was leaking I would go with the headgasket being the first problem which caused the secondary problems suchh as the pump and radiator

Icemaker not working

Ok, if the filter has not been changed in a year or 6 months, i would recommend changing it asap. Now, if this continues to be the issue after the filter change, you will then need to replace the inlet water valve assembly.

Kenmore Elite HE3t which F21 code

I'm guessing the HOSE is the drain hose.
The goop is causing the drain motor to overheat causing it to report error. (luckily or it'd burn out).
Give it a empty load with nothing in it to see if it flushes it all out.
Just water.
See if it completes full cycle and check pump filter again to see if clean.
TIP. Make sure you check ALL pockets before you wash clothes.
;)

My new Whirlpool Refrigerator the water and ice still stink

We have the same problem. Started 2 weeks after purchase. (6 months ago). Tech. replaced fliter, worked for another 2 weeks, then water & ice awful again. Tried to live w/ it - ordered another filter a week ago. Replaced & within 24 hrs. problem was back. Called Whirlpool. Said tech who came to my househad written in his report that tap water & fridge water tasted the same. A lie - he agreed w/ me that the water from fridge was bad, & replaced filter which had a musty odor. Whirlpool basically called me a liar but agreed to send another tech to check it out. I will never buy another Whirlpool product & plan to tak this problem as far as I need to in order to get satisfaction. This is ridiculous!

Ge Profile bottom freezer, french door refrig, water filter

Just replace GE's filter with a standard inline filter that hooks to 1/4" water line tubing. Sounds like their filter has no flow rate either...
