I bought a bunch of these DECT phones and have been testing just one for the last month. I have not been able to get the Caller ID to work successfully. It just shows the name and no number. Consequently, without the number recognition, a lot of other feature do not work: wihtout the number, your CID just shows names and you cannot dial back from this list, you cannot add someone from this list to your phonebook. If someone is in your phonebook and you have any features associated to that number, like a special ring tone, etc., the phone cannot follow this group setting because it doesn't capture numbers, ever. My old phones do capture both the number and the name, so the line subscription is not the problem. The retailer, a respected company in another state has tested the phones but does not have the same problem. They are willing to take them back. The manufacturer, Philips, customer support has been anything but supportive. They said that they work within the design parameters and nothing is wrong with the phone I have. They work as designed. They said that they were manufactured in another country and they weren't made to work in US. I told them that I thought all phones were manufacturered in another country. I asked them if they were selling phones that were not compatible with US technology yet advertising that they were and that the features advertised would not work. They said that they were compatible with US technology: you could make and receive calls on them.... :(
So, any ideas as to why they won't work? Could another brand work? I asked Philips if they had another model that would work. They said that all their phones work the same way... :( again!
This phone had the BEST reviews I've seen. Some insight without Philips attitude would be greatly appreciated.
