Question about Maxtor One Touch III 500GB FireWire/USB2.0 External w/16M buffer Retail ****... 500 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive

Does not work

I accidentally plugged in the wrong adapter into the device. Nothing special happened and it worked fine after I plugged the right adapter in. The day after, when I tried to plug it in, the little green light on the device flashed violently all the time and when I tried to plug it in on my computer, the computer didn't register it at all. A little later in the day I tried again and now nothing happens. I double and triple checked that everything is plugged in correctly and that the adapter is properly set, and everything seems fine, it just won't turn itself on. What happened and how do I fix it?

I believe what happened is that when the wrong adapter was connected it damaged some of the electronics inside. Specifically I would guess some filtering capacitors. You would need to open it to fix it. If you need the data I would think that the drive inside would still work so you could take it out and get the data off of it. Otherwise I would see about sending it back for warranty replacement.

I plug in both usb connectors, and nothing happens. Device does not appear on laptop. Pinfarina 160GB, red case.

Try connecting it to a different computer -- if it still fails to work, then there is nothing wrong with the computer; the fault is with the SimpleTech unit (either the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, or the disk-drive inside the case).

try a different USB port. With some network adapters, you have to use the same USB port you always used. And if use that port for something else your OS may not recognize that adapter anymore. if you plug it into a different one, it should pick it up as a new device. If that doesn't work, then plug it in and right click on "My Computer" click on "properties" then go to "Hardware" then "device manager" if the adapter isn't recognized then you'll see a yellow question mark in "Other Devices" right click on that and try installing drivers from there. If there is no yellow question mark then you should find the adapter in the "network adapters" menu, disable and then enable it. or click on "scan for new devices"

-Hold button keeps displaying

The unit has a hold button that keeps you from accidentally activating the device when it's in a purse or backpack, which preserves battery power and also prevents changing tracks if buttons are accidentally pushed while in play mode. Look on the player for the hold button and turn it to the off position. I hope this helps and good luck!

Cannot detect any wireless connections

Those types of devices if bent, while plugged in will stop working... Sounds like if you flex it as you plug in, it is briefly making connection. Is the device still under warranty? If so I would exchange it... One way to check whats happening on connection, right click "my computer" , go to properties, go to hardware then go device manager, then under network adapters, look for a red x. As the device is plugged watch for changes. If you see your buffalo device, and it has a red X, then I would try to re-install your drivers. If the device is not staying right after being plugged, I would suspect that may be physically broken.

Battery back needs to be connected to the DVD player when charging. connect the batter pack to player. Run the DC/out from the battery pack to the DC/in in the player. plug the charger into the wall.

if that does not work, you have a bad battery

PS2 Slimline no longer works

You might have burned a fuse if the other adaptor put more power in it, thats quite bad.
If your handy with electronic things you should be able to open it, check the fuse which you can buy at an electronics store and replace it.
If your not very handy get one of your friends to check it out or get it done somewhere.

Hope this helped.

MSI laptop technical problem

Sounds like the laptop used up all the battery power and turned itself off. Its doing this possible because your AC Adapter is not functioning correctly. Most AC Adapters have an indicator light to show wether they are working or not. Does your have this and is it on? If the device is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If the device is no longer under warrany, then I would recommend getting a new AC adapter. Make sure you get the same model AC adapter that originally came with the laptop. This will ensure that you have the correct voltage and amperage.
