Sounds like one of the video cards inside the TV stop working or the plasma panel has stop working.

HI, the power supply is unstable or weak. you will need to replace this failing power supply soon. it is damaged.

upon hitting the power button, the red light showing on the front of the tv should flash a couple of times, the screen should come on and the light goes off..the red "stand by " light stays on and we cannot get the screen to come up..needless to say, cannot get to the menu to change any display options...any suggestions?

i have fixed 3 of this tv, with that exact problem in the last 2 weeks, needs a power supply, you can try to unplug it again, plug it in, hit the power button, as soon as it turns green, unplug it again, after 15 seconds , plug it back in, if power doesnt turn on by itself, turn it on, if it turns red again, emediatily hit power again, may have to hit power a few times in a row, but most of the time you can get it to come on this way, once it is on, it should run ok, until you turn it back off, but not a fix, needs power board

it isnt the Y-SUS board, it is the Power supply, iv fixed this exact problem twice in the last month, try turning the tv on, and when it turns green, unplug it real fast, while light is still green, after 15 seconds plug it back in, then hit the power button, if it dont come on, hit the power button again, this time, as soon as it turns off, hit the power button again to turn back on, sometimes you can trick the tv and it will turn on, at least i was able to do it, and once it comes on, it should work fine, untill you turn it off again.

i have a denon 1720 dvd player. When you press the power button it comes on for 3 seconds then the power button turns back red and powers off. If you press the eject button within the 3 seconds the tray opens and the power button stays green. As soon as you close the tray the power agin goes to red. i have a denon 1720 dvd player. a tv has two components, firstly a power supply produces high voltage to trigger a line transformer, in turn a transformer produces smaller voltages. firstly check if the ht is constantly been produced from a supply, if this is there than go to a line transformer, and check voltages at the output.

The power brick has most likely died.
