Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a GBV441 DVD/VCR player which is shaky and plays the DVD in an overall green color which distorts the image. I have tried to adjust the color, but this doesn't work. I've tried it on 3 DVD's and they all have the same problem. Any suggestions?

Don't understand this solution. The DVD and TV were working fine for a year. Then the problem started. How do I switch the DVD player to RGB output? Not sure what this means. Thanks!

I think the DVD player might either be set to output RGB, or if you are watching it via a scart to TV, and the TV is not RGB type. Alternative the TV is an RGB type and your player needs switching to RGB output.

Sorry about that, the solution only is relevant if you had just connected the DVD to the TV. Since you had it working fine before, the fault must something to do with the player or the TV. I guess you are still able to watch broadcast TV. So the DVD player is at fault. However it might be worth replacing the scart lead (if that is the way you connect it to the TV) they can go faulty from time to time and cause a green screen. If that doesn't make a difference then it could be the colour circuit has failed in the DVD, but I am not acquainted with GB players so can't help further in that department.

I think I know what the "skin tones blue" problem is-you probabaly have the composite video(for the old video-on-one-cord format) connected to the blue of the component video input.(component video is the red/blue green RCA type connectors).

The tracking needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it's a knob on the VCR, and sometimes it's a control on the remote. Adjust it for the best picture, and the sound shoud be restored.
Good luck, and hope this helps..

Can't figure out how to adjust VCR tracking

Hello,

Open the player, use cotton wool and methylated spirit to clean the play head of your tape player and the picture will be clear. It is dirt that is making the picture shaky.

Its not all the time that tracking can solve the problem. So clean the player's play head and all will be well.

Please don't apply too much spirit and make sure you dry it with a dry wool. Also make sure the player is turned off and removed from electricity before you proceed for the cleaning.

This is the help that I can render to you.

Good luck.

Hi, It sounds like your lcd chip has gone bad this is how your technology works ;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 lcd chips that create the image and colors by blending together. When they start to go bad you will get color distortion, color halo, spots even lines. You will need to replace the light engine.I suggested to contact you manufacturer to see if they can fix it at no charge since this is a common problem and even where in a law suit because of that problem.

Check the cable connections and/or replace the cables to the AV2 input.

If replacing the cable doesn't provide a solution, try running your DVD through the input. Since it works fine now, you would be checking the input AV2 by putting your working DVD. If the DVD plays with no problems, the input is fine.

Also try the VCR using coax into the TV instead of RCA into AV2. This will give you some idea about the condition of the VCR.

I suspect either the VCR or the cables.

Sony DVD player color problem

All These units need servicing, They all are having problems with the video output circuit. It could be a coupling capacitor or the video chip itself heating up and distorting the output after short playing periods. This may be a simple fix of changing the output coupling capacitors. But it also may be some internal distortion in the chip. These unit need to be tested on a oscilloscope and check out in the video out input section to look for possible component failures. You should contact a service center that will test your unit and give you an evaluation of the cost effectiveness of a repair. Hope this helps you with your problems.
