Re: my tom tom signal keeps dropping out for hours
Ok my aussie compatriot your problem is mainly the battery not being fully charged on the ac charger, it also needs a clear view of the sky. most tomtoms have an external antenna port mmcx but dont buy thoise cheap 28db units as they are trouble, go to Marbella Australia and get one of their 50Db external mouse antennas and that will help tremendously. Perhaps dump your tomtom while your at it as they are nothing but trouble. just check the numer of issue son this forum. check out the A8010 or the super A860 on the marbella site then sell off your tomtom

Ok so for some reason ever since we got a new modem and router my HP laptop willhave a full connection and all of a sudden ill lose it and my wifi says "No Networks available" and a red X appears by my bars at the bottom. ... I dont know if maybe my network adapter is going bad or ...
I have the same exact problem. Satellite detection outside of vehicle before starting out was full strength, as soon as you get into vehicle strength drops off to practically nothing. Now start driving and it continually loses satellite reception even on the open road with no hills and a clear day. It was mounted as far into the front windshield as I could get it and still crappy reception. Very disappointing as a cheaper Tom Tom my sister has works flawlessly. Also my daughters HTC desire Z cell phone GPS works flawlessly even from the back seats in the van. Maybe 1450LMT is just junk, and I should look for a refund.
I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.
I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".
The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.
I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.
This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.
