Flame Shooting out the front

I have the Charbroil 463268606 4 burner grill. Only recently have i been experiencing a flame coming from the second burner "out the front", between the grill and the front panel. Any ideas how to fix this? is it a leak that is repairable?

Which part would you replace, the gas delivery pipe or the burner assembly?

You clearly have a gas leak. Inspect the suspect area for loose connections like the gas delivery pipe to the burner assembly. Try to reconnect them. If there is a hole in it you can use some muffler repair adhesive but I would just get a new part. Often the company will send you free parts as a good gesture to assure encourage repeat business. Check out the links below. The second one offers free shipping.

Sometimes the burner is clogged and the back pressure forces the gas out of the holes where the air is drawn in to mix with the gas. Try removing the burner, poke out the holes that provide the burner flame, knock out all the loose stuff you can, clean it in hot water with grease cutting soap or in your dishwasher, let it dry and reinstall. I hope this helps

I would light my grill and the first burner would light, but in about 10 seconds it would backup and flames would also come out the front. The entrance to the burner was clogged with some kind of white webbing maybe from a spider, cleaned it out and works great!

Mr. Ely is right. I took off my burners and looked in the hole. Spider webs!!! Makes sense, the gas shoot back out of the burner. I just poked out the spider webs and dumped out the loose stuff. Works great now.

Before buying anything, look into the burners for spider webs. The webs block gas from getting to the burner and will fire back. This is dangerous. Look carefully where the gas nozzle enters the burner tube.

First burner ignites quickly, second and third take up to 3 minutes IF they fire at all. burners are not clogged.

If the first burner's flame characteristic's look right, the remaining burners need to be removed and the venturi valves and burner orifices checked for obstructions and cleaned if necessary. That's generally the cause of delay ignition.

Hope this helped and Happy Grilling!

I have a charbroil, advantage series grill. It isn't lighting.

How rusted are the burners? It is possible there is rusted metal blocking the gas ports. I don't have enough information from you regarding the problem...do you hear the gas flowing when you turn the burner open and the gas bottle is open?

Go to your user's manual, there should be an illustrated parts list. From there you can order new burners...you can also do this at Char-Broil's website.

Burner replacement is easy: take the grills out, then remove the flame tamers (the tent looking thing that sits over the burner to prevent flame-ups), the burners are screwed in to the grill at the back, remove the screws then grab the burner, pull towards the back of the grill and then up...this will disengage it from the gas valve in the front of the grill. Putting in a new one is the exact revers of this procedure...just make sure when you put the new ones in you make sure the burner's gas intake is connected to the valve at the front of the grill. Once done, you should be good to go.

Charbroil master flame gas grill the flame is either very high or very low

How old is the grill? The size of the holes in the burner is critical. As burners age, the holes rot out, and get bigger. The velocity of the gas exiting the holes has a large effect on flame size. New burner is the most typical solution.
