A/c on the inside is working (kicking on) but the outside unit is not doing anything what can be the cause

no power will not let contactor pull in on outside unit - if capicitor is for fan and compressor and bad - neither will come on when contactor pulls in - low freon press. switch or if outside fan tripped unit on high pressure - could be manual reset - thermostat wires bad would not let run signal get to outside unit

Trying to cool down...when i set temporary to specific temperature, it won't cool down. Also, snowlflake icon has been displayed since yesterday. Not flashing, just displaying. ANy suggestions?

snowflake is the symbol for cool on some thermostats and a flame pic is for heat. As far as the unit not cooling you need to do a few things to see where the problem could be. First you need to turn on the unit and go to the outside section and see if the compressor is turning on. You will be able to hear the compressor by the humming it emits. If you do not hear the humming there could be a chance the compressor's capacitor is out. In that case you will need to have it replaced
If you hear the compressor then it's possible and more than likely you are low on freon. Both items the freon and the capacitor wwould need to be taken care of by a tech due to licensing for the freon and the capicitor because of the wiring. Good Luck Hope that helps
