Outside systen mums but does not come on

The outside unit hums but does not come on. wonder if it is the capicitor starter?

Fan does not run. Low power hum audible.


sounds like you have a bad run capicitor on your fan check if the cap is swolen and or any oil around the terminals thats usualy a tail tell sind thats its bad

A/c on the inside is working (kicking on) but the outside unit is not doing anything what can be the cause


no power will not let contactor pull in on outside unit - if capicitor is for fan and compressor and bad - neither will come on when contactor pulls in - low freon press. switch or if outside fan tripped unit on high pressure - could be manual reset - thermostat wires bad would not let run signal get to outside unit

Trying to cool down...when i set temporary to specific temperature, it won't cool down. Also, snowlflake icon has been displayed since yesterday. Not flashing, just displaying. ANy suggestions?


snowflake is the symbol for cool on some thermostats and a flame pic is for heat. As far as the unit not cooling you need to do a few things to see where the problem could be. First you need to turn on the unit and go to the outside section and see if the compressor is turning on. You will be able to hear the compressor by the humming it emits. If you do not hear the humming there could be a chance the compressor's capacitor is out. In that case you will need to have it replaced
If you hear the compressor then it's possible and more than likely you are low on freon. Both items the freon and the capacitor wwould need to be taken care of by a tech due to licensing for the freon and the capicitor because of the wiring. Good Luck Hope that helps

No forced air.... compressor unit and furnace do kick on


Bad blower motor/capicitor or relay. Check the fuse if it has one.

AC didn't blow cool air. Checked the compressor unit outside and the fan didn't work.


if you could hear the compressor running then capicitor or fan motor bad if no compressor check for power to out door unit some times fuses at disconnect also on seperate breaker than indoor unit hope this helps
