Probably the PS3 is overused, that's why it's warm. Shut it off when gets warm, or the least, after 4 - 5 hours of game play. That should help cool down the machines !

Whe playing games i have background music and sound but no main dialect during game. like ncaa 2010 no commentary with hdmi but with av everything works okay

must be a problem with:
  • your HDMI cable, with some connectors that doesn't work (it causes problems with audio channels). Try using a different one .
  • OR
  • you should set the default audio settings in playstation settings , if you are with a wrong channel selected you might have problems like these you are experiencing.

Digital channel 25 has no sound.

First make sure SAP or nothing similar is turned on.

After you triple check that just Contact ILO if it continues for more than 1month. This is a software error.

What state are you in?
What channel is this?NBC, ABC
Have you check this at different times of day?
What TV does your son have?

Sound from left channel is small and distorted.

The distortion might be caused by a resistor. The loss of volume could be the capacitors, but you could try injecting signals into the transistors to see if any has gone. They can cause the distortion and loss of signal. If you apply a soldering iron to any part it will heat up quicker, or you could also use a hairdryer for the whole thing. You can also get a freeze spray that cools things that have heat sensitive faults (available from electronic parts shops).

PS3 Audio Output Problems

Inside of most any system there is what I like to call the sound chip, I am not sure what the actuall name ofit is. This sound chip is the final stage of amplification of the circuit board before going out to the any other sound device. I have found in several cases that this single chip goes bad. Depending on what brand it is the cost to replace this single chip can be anywhere from a few dollars up to a little less than $100. As for the being able to hear certain parts of saound what is happening is the chip is divided up into several different channels thus if just a few channels of the chip goes out all you would hear is the background noise or nothing at all depending what you are playing.

Sound on DVDs

It sounds like she has the player set to output 5.1 surround sound, but only has left and right channel speakers hooked up. Either change the dvd player to only send two channels or hook up a center channel speaker.
