I have cannon scanner printer PRIXMA - MP 160, when I start scanning or printing it is showing E - 9 , and the there is persistant blinking in front of Black ink. Few days back it all of sudden stopped scanning.
Please solve my problem and give me the solution?

Hi! Error code E 9 means that the connected digital camera/video camera does not support Camera Direct Printing. Have you connected any digital camera or video camera, then please check its compatibility with the printer. If it is not the case, then please reset the printer after unplugging it for 5 minutes and then re-plug it. Also, detach the cartridges and replace them again and see the results. If the problem still persists, please do post a comment and I will reply back immediately. Your MP780 should be able to scan with Windows 7. I presume you can print ok. Look in your programs for a program called MP Navigator. This is the scanning software Canon use on most of the printer/scanners. If you do not have it then you can download it free from Canons website. Its very simple to use and hopefully that should solve your problem.
Adjusting Output (Scan) Resolution
By changing the resolution, you can set how clear the image is going to be. The higher the resolution, the clearer (but the larger) the scanned image is. The resolution can be changed before scanning.
(Note) If the resolution is doubled, the image data will be quadrupled. If the data is large, problems such as slow processing speed or lack of memory may occur. Place the document face-down on the platen glass.
Launch MP Navigator.
On the Windows desktop, double-click the 'MP Navigator 2.0' icon.

try checking if you have completely installed all the drivers for your
printer. scanning and copying dont usually needs drivers because you
can do that even without a computer. but scanning requires your scanner
to be read by your pc. try checking for the scanner driver from the cd
that came from your printer.
look at the canon web site.. I think they have released a complete driver package for that particular machine to make it fully compatable with vista.. BTW ensure you have the full functioning driver for bith printer and scanner and not just the printing part alone.. Let me know if you are still having problems or if the above doesnt work and well continue from there..
my MP 160 cannot scan to pc, but can print and photocopy well. it says
it cannot communicate with scanner..cable might be disconnected or
scanner might be off..tried uninstalling and reinstalling..still
some printers can detect that the cartridges are refilled based ona barcode or scanning of the cartridges. Does this Cannon have ink tanks or ink cartridges. If it has intakes then the print head needs to be cleaned wth rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. If they are cartridges then it would be good just to buy the original cartidges. As far as the scanning goes this can be a direct connection to the printer going through maintenance. If it continues to not scan then you may need to uninstall the scanner. see if the scanner shows up in your scanners area. if not then it will need to be re-installed.
