Nikon coolpix 775 digital camera

when I turn the camera on, I get a system error and I noticed the lens cover does not open up. Itermittently it will open up and it seems to be working ok, and then after a few minutes I get the system error again. I have tried to free up the zoom lens by using Isopropal alcahol and tried cleaning the lens cover to no avail. It appears the zoom feature is sticking, but I'm not sure. I'm not getting any error message related to lens but again, will get the system error within a few miniutes even if the lens and zoom are working. Don't want to buy another camera. Will be more than happy to get this fixed if it is worth it.
