Hello. The very common reason this happens is that the belt that drives the brush breaks. The fix is to get a new belt and install it. Do not get a generic belt, get an original equipment belt from a vacuum cleaner store.

Shark rotator nv340 roller brush is not spinning

just found this from another fixya member....There are a number of reasons why your brush roll has stopped spinning on your Shark Rotator. Here are a few things to check for when trying to fix your Shark.

First things first lets focus on the brush roll. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roll. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roll to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roll is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. This could be the other reason why your brush roll has stopped spinning. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roll. Lesser tension diminishes the brush rolls turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is effecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

My vacuum was great when I first got it a few months ago, now it won't pick anything up off of the floor. The removable hose works fine, but the main vacuum isn't working at all. I checked the hoses for...

you could have a clog at the begining of the suction port above brush roll check that and make sure the brush roll is spinning if not it wont pick up anything

The bottom brush that spins around is not moving anymore

The belt that drives it has probably broke,If you can remove the head on that model remove it and replace the belt . You make have to access the belt by removing the screws from the bottom of the power head.

Carbon Brushes wearing out quickly on Kirby Heritage II

4 possible reasons.
1 – one or both bearings are worn so armature (rotating part) wobbles as it is spinning and cause motor brushes to wear fast. Solution – change bearings too.
2 – Whoever replaced brushes – did not use some brush seating sticks to make cmutator smother and contour brushes to the shape of the comutator (not likely). Solution – appropriately install new set of brushes.
3 – Comutator is so warped that seating sticks do not help anymore – solution – new armature or turn the old armature.
4 – The fact that ONLY ONE brush was worn may mean that there is something wrong with the brush or housing. Maybe it could not move freely within the housing? I think this may be most likely cause it it may be a combination of all 4.Is it worth to fix? Hmm depends how much will it be. If this is 100+ - I’d say get newer Kirby for 300 ad enjoy the tech drive (Heritage does not have tech drive so it is much harder to vacuum with than the newer models)

Brushes not spinning....

My status light came on, the vac beeped twice and stopped. I noticed my brushes weren't spinning. I took an eyeglass screwdriver and took off the center screw that holds on the brushes. I cleaned the shaft that the brushes spin on. replaced brushes and it works great! I just did this now and it is still running. my status light problem is fixed my roomba is 4 years old and I am on my 2nd battery. Seems to have fixed the problem. FYI it was wrapped with hair, dirt and it was greasy.
