You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: how do I tranfer pictures from camera to computer

When you connect the camera to your computer and have installed the software for it, you might see a new removeable drive in your My Computer >> open it and the pics would be there. In case the removeable drive does not appear, check you might have Camera and Imaging devicesin My computer, double click on that and then check.

SOURCE: I can't seem to upload my pictures from my camera

If you are using a memory card to store images on your camera, you can get an external usb card reader to download your images. Attach the reader to your computer, insert the sd memory card, and copy the images to your hard drive. If you are using the built in memory, try going here to find a software download: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn034495.jhtml?pq-path=11888#

I have a Canon Powershot SX100 but have lost the disc to download on my computer. How can I download my pictures without this software?

If you have Windows XP you should just be able to plug in the camera via USB cable and download them, no problem. I never use any software that comes with a camera, you don't need it.

Here's the Canon page for your camera:
