You may need the SATA drivers if XP is older. Get a newer version or download the drivers and press F6 during the setup when it asks if you require 3rd party array software (array controller).

Just replaced my hdd on Compac Presario 2100 but the system is not detecting it.

This model laptop came with a 60Gb hard disk and if you installed a much larger capacity hard disk then the BIOS cannot detect this hard disk.
For the BIOS to detect a large hard disk a BIOS upgrade is required (if there is one available) Check the HP/Compaq WEB site to see if there is a BIOS upgrade.
If not the try a 120Gb or smaller capacity hard drive.
As an alternative -
You can keep the existing hard drive in your laptop and use an external USB hard drive to store your data.

I can't format my HP Compaq 6720s Notebook, win xp say can not hdd drive ,but i'll get new hdd

The reason XP cannot detect the hard drive is because thr hard drive in this model HP is a SATA hard drive and the Windows XP installation CD does not have the SATA controllers on this CD.
To install XP on a SATA hard drive, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

If there is a drive password on the system then you will have to send it back to HP so they can reset the passwords. You will be charged for the service.

Notebook cant see my 30 giga hdd

i assume the armada is a compaq product? if so, you may want to read your installation documentation- hdd may have jumpers, or spacers that need to be re-located! if it's not a compaq 'compliant' product, then good luck! compaq hardware is very 'proprietary'! meaning, if our laptop don't like it, then it don't work!! i've tried compaq ram on a toshiba- slotted right in! no prob. 'til i booted! didn't like it! seems very unfriendly to me! if your hdd 'kit' is supposedly compatible with your laptop, then, as i stated- check dox for jumper, or spacer settings. remove hdd and check for bent pins!! if there are any, very, very carefully- using fine tweezers- straighten them until they socket properly!
break one of and you're s.o.l.!
you may have a friend with the proper tools, and a steady hand who could assist, it there's a bent pin!
the hdd can appear to seat properly, but still have a bent pin. check any jumper/spacer settings first! also compatibility with your armada!
good luck!

Here's a link to the HP site for drivers for your Compaq. You will need to select the exact model when you get there though e.g m2000z/m2000cto etc :
