Question about ASUS K8VSE Deluxe (K8VSE-DELUXE 10PAK) Motherboard

1 Answer

No Post No Beeps just lights and fans

I have had my K8v SE Deluxe board for a little over 4 yrs now and it has worked fine. A few months ago it would reboot on it's own and start on it's own then it would not power on until I played around with psu. Finally it would not power on at all. I opened case and reconnected all of the wires and after a while the psu began to smoke. I unplugged the thing and immediately ordered a new one; but the board lights up when I turn on the psu (it shouldn't) and nothing else happens, just lights and fans work. I disconnected everything and plugged the psu in, hit the switch on the psu and the board lights up and fans work. I removed the processor and cleaned everything, looked for damage to processor and did not see anything different like a burn mark or bent pin etc; replaced it and the same thing. I removed all memory; but one dimm and still no good.
I am afraid it is the MOBO.

I have everything as I noted in my message and still nothing. Why would the board start without power button?? The psu is not supposed to turn board on and off. The psu is to supply power to the system so that all swithches from board to case will work. The system was not working like this for the years I have been using it and now all of a sudden there is no function from the computer case controls like power and reset or speakers or anything. I have played with the memory and just the AGP card and even no AGP and the same thing.

If the computer just turns lights and fans thats because you have a piece of hardware that is unable to start.

My guess is that you burnt one of the three:

The CPU
The Board
A Card attached.

Disconnect the hard disks and DVD CD drives
Try removing a ram slot at a time and keep trying, keep doing that for all the pieces until you have none.

If at the end (when you get to a part where you only have Board and VGA plugged the computer still doesn't boot up, the best sollution is to try these 3 on another pc to make sure they are faulty before sending them to vendor.

Good luck

wild guess, try disconnecting the power button wire from the motherboard.

Try with the reset wire aswell

    Good luck

I just want to know whether SATA 1TB hdd support Asus K8V SE Deluxe Motherboard or not? and also i want to use 512 MB grafix card. can both things support to this motherboard?

Yes as long as there are SATA ports on the motherboard it will work fine.
You will need to find out if your graphics card is pci-e or agp and make sure it matches the motherboard.

Check your power supply voltages. All of them!

You can find a list through google for connector pins.

Look for ATX power connector.

L7VMM2 wont boot (no post) plz help

Sounds like the CMOS battery on the motherboard needs replacing...i would try clearing CMOS first, replace battery and test voltage at the CPU (through the BIOS) If that dosen't help you likely have faulty capacitors.
If you get it to boot, im sure drivers and BIOS will need updates if it's been stored 2 yrs.

Is it USB or SATA drive? In the BIOS there is an option to allow USB boot device.

cost is $65.99 and it only requires a 350 watt psu so you are good. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

Try removing the memory cards and leave them blank. Turn on the power. If you notice beeps, the memory cards may be at fault. If not, there is a problem with your motherboard

Sounds like your board may have fried. Try to hook it up to just the power supply and see if you get anything from that.

System failed cpu test

I think the problem is the mounting screw of the motherboard to the casing is grounded. You need to put some plastic insulator to the metal screw to avoid the grounded in the board.
