It could be the motor. I'm having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
This website www. tasweb.org ,select the DC 05 option and scroll down tells you how to take the thing to bits. A search on google etc for your DC 07 may give similar results. Best of luck!

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

No there isn't a re-set switch if tyour machine is not switching on. We would recommend contacting our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON so that one of our advisors can assist you with this issue.

Kind regards

Dyson making loud noise

If your brushroller isn't spinning it will make the loud sound. Try removing the brushroll and reinstalling it. If this doesn't work, you may need a new brushroller. You can find one here...

Dyson dc 07 not powering up, cleaned filter as well?

First try a different outlet, you never know.

More likely is that you may need to replace the power switch on the machine. Call the Dyson Helpline - they will find an authorized repair dealer in your area who will be able to inspect the power switch and replace it for you.

When I hit the power switch it turns on, but it will not stay on.

If this were mine I would take the old switch off and put a toggle switch from Home Depot in it. Make sure it's rated for 110 volts and the wattage of your machine or at least 100 watts. It should cost no more than 2-3 dinero or about 1/200th the cost of a new one.

Cannot turn off the vacuum

I've read about the same problem with 3 Dysons in the past 10 minutes. One owner said a new switch (which is what you need) would cost half a new machine; which is way beyond ridiculous because a on off switch should be designed to last beyond the rest of the vacuum. I suggested if it were mine I would go to Home Depot and buy a toggle switch and either put it in or have someone put it in. Have you called a dealer about this. They may have enough complaints that to avoid bad publicity they would fix it free - if they were smart.

On switch lite burnt out need replacement

There is no light bulb in the switch of the machine. It is simply light shining through the red button that gives it that effect/illusion. If you are able to turn on your machine without any problems it is working as it should. If the power switch is not engaging and the vac is not turning on at all, that's a different issue. In that case call the Dyson Helpline so that they can refer you to an authorized dealer in your area who will fix the switch for you.

There's something wrong with the motor. Don't turn the vacuum cleaner on again - call the Dyson helpline - they'll let you know where you can take your vacuum cleaner to, to have it repair - you definitely need a repair.
