Re: keyboard fix

Usually there are 4 to 6 screws under it holding it together. Look under the rubber pads. Remove them. The parts also snap together too.

If you have a bad keyboard there's nothing you can fix except dry it out if you spelled liquid on it.

You can get a surplus one for $5 or a new one for $20.

How do you open the keyboard on a gateway dx4200-09

Thats because it has a sealed keyboard, that kind of keyboard you cannot open it without destroying it, so don't complicate, just buy a new keyboard they're not expensive.

If you can bott the computer normally and don't have to type a password in, then go the control panel and then choose device manager. Scroll down to the mouse and keyboard plus signs and right click on the mouse and keyboard one at a time and select uninstall. When the original mouse and keyboard have been uninstalled, reboot the computer. When Windows starts back up it will be forced to search for the new hardware and will install the drivers for it. If it wants to search for new ones allow it. If you have to type a password, you will have to go and get a usb keyboard that works off one of the usb ports. If this doesn't work, reboot the computer with the Vista disc in. Click any button to boot from the cd. When the windows files load and windows starts, choose repair, choose the windows installation and let windows search for problems and see if it can fix them. If all fails, go to system restore and back the computer up a few days and let system restore fix the problem by taking you back in time a few.

Dell opti plex 755 ..its a company's computer and they have installed windows from another shop so now it boots well opens windows but the mouse and keyboard does'nt work it says found new hardware how can...

Windows usually supplies the needed drivers during the original installation of windows and should have enabled both devices. You may have to do a new install of Windows to fix.

Ihave a faulty letter on key board which is not the button .Ihave been told this can be fixed any help please

Keyboards get dirty & its easy for things (like stapes), to get caught underneath a key. You can buy another keyboard for $10-$15 but if you want to try something 1st, try holding the keyboard upside down & shaking it. You'll be surprised how much stuff falls out. While you've got it upside down, hit the q & s keys a couple of time to see if you can loosen whatever it is that's stuck. And if that doesn't help, you could remove the screws from the back and open up the keyboard and clean it that way. Keyboards simply press on a membrane which send the signal to the PC. If the membrane under the q & s keys is bad, then the keyboard is bad and you'll have to get another one.

I spilled coffee over keyboard and now the keyboard is not working properly is there a way i can fix this i have left it for 24 hours and it seems worse

No, keyboards are too cheap to justify opening up a keyboard and attempting to clean it, especially if you drink your coffee with sugar, the sugar works at the etchings, and when you attempt to clean the traces, you wipe them away rendering the keyboard useless.
