Problems with dish network remote

I recently got dish network. The remote for my primary tv goes in an out at times. I've replaced batteries, tried reprogramming it and everything. It will ALWAYS do the volume and power for the television but will not always control the receiver. I have noticed when I put it right beside the receiver it works. They said that plasma tv's cause the remote to act funny, but i have a Philips LCD. I do not have the 211 i have the VIP 222k receiver, but i did not see that option. Thanks for any and all help

Hi dsmcfarland there are acouple of things you can do so the remote works better. On the receiver selectthe System Info button, it will take you to the System Info screen, at thebottom you will see two white boxes the first saying "primary remote address"and "secondary remote address". With the TV1 remote press and release the SATbutton and press Record button one time. You will see the primary addresschange and then press Select button on the remote. I will send a link to helpout with these steps. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-control

bp22911,

It sounds like it may be an interference issue with the IR. Some LCD TV's can cause interference with an IR signal which will cause problems with the remote. Something you can try to fix is disabling the Auto Back-Lighting feature on the TV itself and see if that helps. If not, the easiest way to fix would be to make the TV1 remote UHF.

This would require a 21.0 remote as a 20.0 is IR only. Look on the back of the remote at the top to see what model you have.

With a 21.0 go to System Information. On the back of the remote inside the battery cover is a switch that says IR And UHF and make sure the green 1 is showing. Flip it to UHF and press Record 3 times. The Primary Address should now have UHF in it. Try the remote and see if it works.

If it doesn't or you continue to have problems you can post here or email me at thomas.faust@dishnetwork.com

My IR Remote 103602 is not working. I recently bought a universal remote controller. What code should I input in order to control the Dish Network receiver? (just like controlling a TV or VCR). Thanks.

Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Servicehere. I came across your post recently and wanted to see if I could help. Weunfortunately do not have any codes in order to get your TV remote to controlthe DISH Network receiver. If your DISH Network remote is no longer functioningproperly we do have a few different trouble shooting steps that you can try inorder to get the remote working again. You will want to first replace thebatteries in the remote just to make sure that is not the issue. If you havealready replaced the batteries and the remote is still not working you willwant to press the SAT mode button to make sure that it is still lighting upred. If the SAT mode light is still lighting up you are probably going to needreaddress the remote to the receiver but if it is no longer lighting up you mayneed a replacement remote. I will list here for you the instruction foraddressing your remote to your receiver box. In the case that the remote iseither not working after all trouble shooting or the mode lights are no longerlighting up please email me at Cheri.Torres@Dishnetwork.com with your accountinfo so that I can get a replacement remote sent to you. I hope you find thisinformation useful and if you have any other questions or concerns feel free toemail me anytime. :)
Steps for readdressing the remote to the receiver
  1. Go to System Info screen. You can do this by either pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver box or you can press the power button once then the channel up button once on the front of the DISH receiver box.
  2. Once you are in the system info screen you will see either remote address or primary remote address(TV1) and secondary remote address(TV2)
  3. Hold down the SAT button on the remote until all mode lights light up.
  4. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.Change the number to something different then what is already listed in the little white square.
  5. Press the pound (#) button
  6. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 4 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

When I push the SAT or TV buttons on the remote control they do not light up. Have replaced batteries with fresh ones. Thanks for assistance.

Hi, my name is Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service. I came across your post recently and would like to help. If you have already replaced the batteries in your remote and still the SAT and TV buttons are not lighting up it sounds like you may need a new remote. You can try holding down either the SAT or the TV button for about 10 seconds to see if this will get either of them to light up. If that does not work you will need a new remote. You can either call into DISH Network at 1-800-333-3474 or you can email me with your account information (i.e. account number or phone number and name on the account) and I would be happy to get a remote sent out to you. You can also email me if you have any further questions or concerns and I'd be happy to assist you. Thanks! :)

Hello, the remote can sometimes have problems. If you haven't changed the batteries in 60 days, try different batteries, or even try a different brand. Sometimes also, with new remotes, the remotes can be faulty upon arrival. If changing the batteries doesn't help, then at that point, we would probably want to replace the remote again. It has been some time since you posted, but if you have yet to get this resolved, I would be more than happy to take a look into this for you. You can reach me at becki.barned@dishnetwork.com.

I bought a Dish remote for a2nd tv and cant get it

strmason,

Are you still having problems with programming the remote to your receiver? I am assuming it is TV 1? You should have a green tab at the bottom of the remote with a "green 1" and no lettering after the 1. If you have the correct tab on the bottom, you should be on the "System Information" screen, showing on your TV, from the receiver. At the bottom of the screen you will have "primary and secondary remote addresses" with numbers in the white boxes. You can press the "record" button on the remote to address the remote to the receiver. I hope this helps.

Program sony remote to operate dish vip722

The Sony RM-YD029 Remote control will work with the Dish Network VIP722 DVR HD Satellite Receiver, but the Dish Network VIP722's Primary remote address must be set to 1.

The procedure below will allow Sony RM-YD029 remote control to operate Dish VIP722.

Using the Dish Network Remote Control -
1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page
2. In the system info page the primary remote address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that says IR and indicates you the channel your remote control one is configured. The Sony RM-YD029 will work when this primary remote address number (in the white box) is set to 1.

If the Primary Remote Address of your VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:

1. While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3 seconds.
2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote
3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote
4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting)
5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page

Ensure you enter the corresponding IR code into your Sony remote control per the instructions in the manual or Sony's web site. My 722 works with Sony IR code - 01775.

Need Dish DVR ViP722 remote code.

If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.

Cannot control Vip222 with sling classic

I have read elsewhere that Slingboxes required the Dish Network receivers to be set to Primary Remote Address 1.

To try a fix:

Using the Dish Network Remote Control -
1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page
2. In the system info page the Primary Remote Address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that says IR and indicates the channel to which remote control 1 is configured.

If the Primary Remote Address of your Dish VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:

Ensure you enter the corresponding IR code into your slingbox remote control per the instructions in the Slingbox documentation.
