SOURCE: resetting ink counters on epson c42ux

Hi (unlucky) C42 owners,
After a day of searching, downloading and cursing, I am very happy to tell you, folks, that my Epson C42 started printing again. Thanks to Ian willis:( http://ianwillis.co.uk/c42/ ) and
Dr Tool: ( http://downloads.guru3d.com/DRTool-EPSON-Printer-Counter-Reset-download-644.html#download ). Also the SSC service utility was very helpfull, though, not enough to make a counter reset( in my case ).
Yes, I know, there's nothing new than already recomended stuff. But folks, have patience!
That's the (new) advice I would like to add. Sometimes you heve to sleep on it. Well, it has worked out for me, why not for other people.

Tom

Both the red and green light are on and blinking. What is wrong with my Epson C60?

kiryakitsa1 You should download the SSC Service Utility as pineworks says. Read the instructions and warnings. Go to Reset counter protection and press reset. You may recieve a warning about replacing your waste ink pads. I have always reset the protection counter without replacing the waste ink pads and I have never had a problem. If you see ink drainage then you should replace the waste ink pads and then reset the protection counter. I have never had a problem with ink heads and I have done this many times.

How to reset 73/91 Cartridges for Epson CX5500

SSC utility is used for resetting waste ink counter, not for ink level counter (chip at ink tank). If you wish to reset ink level counter (chip), you must use hardware resetter, or use CISS chip with autoreset function.

Reset ink-pad counter on epson stylus photo 1400

Hi,

The simplest way to do this is to grab a copy of the A10_IPR utility that Epson distribute to their customers...

The utility is available to North American customers if you register no this site page http://www.epson.com/ipr/

The utility is also know to be available in the wild if you search for "waste ink ipr".

Just remember to scan any download using a virus and malware scanner before you attempt to use it as some utilities contain trojans or similar nasties.

Hope that helps.

IT tells me WAste ink is full/ how do i empty it Would this cause my printer not to work. it won't wake up I have to unplug it . plug it in again and it eill print about 3 sheets before it quits again?

The waste ink is a cotton-like pad at the back of the ink that absorbs all the ink that is unused and whenever you run the printer head cleaning utility. This doesn't really gets full but rather the printer has an internal counter that counts up whenever it is used. There are utilities on the internet that lets you reset this counter and then you can use the printer again. A word to the wise though, this waste ink pad does get soggy over time and might spill over when it can no longer hold any more waste ink. Below are a couple of links that can reset the waste ink counter together with instructions on how to do it.
