I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router which was working fine until my Cable internet provider upgraded the modem box. now if i try to install the router and after rerunning the install software to reconfigure the router it will not allow an internet signal through. but if i remove the router the internet works fine. could the upgrade have damaged my router or is there a solution that i can fix the problem
I would appear that your router has not taken the settings from your provider. There are a number of things that you can try; I recommend them in this order. 1. Turn off your modem, router and computer. Give then all a minute to get cold. 2. Turn on the modem, wait 30 seconds, turn on the router, wait 30 seconds, then boot your computer. Most of the time everything will be fine at this point. 3. If not, check the router setup. You access your router by opening your browser on a hardwired computer and entering 192.168.1.1. At the signon, leave the user blank and enter "admin" for the password. Check out the setup. If you don't know how to do this, repost or contact me -- there's just too many possibilities to list in this response. 4. If all of that looks fine, you may need to upgrade you router firmware. Not for the faint of heart, but you can download the latest from linksys and install it. Try these things; if you don't have success, document carefully what happens at each step and I'll get you through it.

My Samsung Blu Ray BD1250 fails on the last connection test - the Internet Services test. When I connect the ethernet cable from the Blu Ray to the Linksys the connection test fails. If I bypass the Linksys and connect the Blu Ray directly to my DSL modem ethernet port all tests are successful and I can access the internet. Any ideas what setting on my Linksys is blocking the connection? I have the Blu Ray cable network setup for DHCP = on and DNS = Auto.
