Need to replace power cord - Technics 1200 MK2

As long as the only thing damaged is the power cord, this should be easy. You said that you needed to know how to tell which side is positive and which is negative? The power cord carries alternating current not direct current. So in this case, polarity really isn't important. The same applies to the two yellow wires supplying the main motor board. They are A/C too. As long as the replacement cord you use is of equal or higher power handeling, and you make sure your connections are solid, it will work fine regardless of polarity. Just be sure the only problem is the cord. Check this link to be sure. Good luck, EW.
This link is a must have for anybody diagnosing a problem with a SL1200/1210. Take a look:

Power cord was pulled out and looking to replace the cord

Two types of power cords--ones that are soldered into a board inside the set and ones that plug onto a socket inside.

Almost any standard POLARIZED cord will work for the soldered in ones---Polarized cords at the plug have two lugs--one larger than the other---

The large pin goes to the neutral side of the electrical outlet--if replacing a soldered in cord you MUST get them the same.

The larger lug on the cord will have a white stripe on that side or a rough surface.

Neutral to neutral and hot to hot---the hot side in the set goes to the fuse.

This has been around for decades--it prevents the cord from being plugged in backwards (Polarity) and if installed backwards the set will work but you will have 120 volts potential voltage on all external metal fittings like the CABLE fitting---sparks will happen when you try to put the coax to the set and it will feed this back to all sets via the cable in your home.

Get it right the first time----a cord that plugs onto pins will have this also but the plug on the cord if original (Toshiba in this case) will not permit this reverse polarity because of the shape of the plug itself at the end of the cord.

Need power cord tranformer for my computer speaker system. plug on one end other end 3 pin system on othe Transforms 110v down to I guess 12v. not sure

you'll need electrical specs of the transformer (current and polarity) for the speaker system and mechanical connector spec. At the very least a model and number.

Power connector

Usually, devices will have the voltage/amperage embossed on the plastic near where the power cord will connect. If not there, recommend looking online at website or contacting BenQ support for spec.
Also, note that polarity is important when buying replacement power connectors and there is also usually an embossing that shows if it is pos/neg.

If the power connector on the back is a 3-pin socket then get a standard IEC power cable. If it is a small rounded socket then get the corresponding power supply. The unit pr user manual should give the correct specs on the required voltage, polarity, current consumption, etc.

Vec2705 polarization varification of recharge port

Hello, and yes I'm still in need of a solution. Lost the power cord, have replaced it w/universal, need to know spec on polarity. Is the positive contact the center post inside the recharge port or is it the surrounding contact of the same location? New universal has polarity switch, capible of both options. Do NOT want to fry the unit.  Speaking of which mine appears different than the one you have pictured. Mine is YELLOW, very ylw, w/black rubber bottom with the added feature of a 260psi air compressor on board. Unit also provides a 12v power outlet(cigarret lighter varity) and one small LED light mounted forward, just above main spotlight. Dementions are 13.5L x 8.25H x 5W. Thanks for any help you may provide, and might I say just how impressed I am w/ your response time. Although at this time your premium service I must forego, I've bookmarked your site and "I shall return!"

Power cord

The power cord is
Input: 120V, 60 Hz.
Output: 9V AC, 400 mA.

So , there is no need to worry about Polarity here. Just make sure , the output voltage is around 9V. DC input is ok. since there is bridge rectifier inside.

Power cord replacement

The cable may be replaced from a company called Cables To Go. They have a non-polarized cord:

and a polarized cord:

If one of the tabs on the plug from the old cord was larger than the other tab, then it is a polarized cord.
