Are there different types of planting hoes? If so, what are the differences between them?

There are two main types of planting hoes - weeding and chopping hoes. Weeding hoes are designed to slice weeds at ground level. Chopping hoes have blades with a sharp angle pointed down to aid in moving soil. They are designed to cut up weeds.

I just dug a new garden and want to spray the new soil with roundup to prevent news grass and weeds from growing in this area. How long after application of spray should I wait before planting new shrubs...

Roundup works on the leaves of an active plant. It is not a preventative. Use Preen for preventing weeds. If you do spray Roundup on active weed, it takes two weeks before you can plant your good plant material.

Depends a littlebit on what tpe of weed but normally 24 hours after application on an actively growing weed is enough for it to be taken into the plant

We just planted some ice plant on our embankment and the weeds and grass are overtaking it. What can we do?

Hallo there. The best is to weed it and mulch then with some clean woodchips etc. If it is just new grass weeds through among the plants with soil shacken off. It returns Nitrogen to the soil. DO not use Roundup because you will kill your plants as well. Have fun and do post a picture it will be great to see and advice can be specific. Regards

When can I plant grass after using Roundup?

You can plant or replant as soon as the weeds you sprayed are dead. Roundup is deactivated upon contact with the soil, it only affects the plant material sprayed.

Danger of roundup applications around tree and bush plantings

Hi , I would be very carefull around good plants. Roundup will kill almost any plant, including aquatic plants, so you want to be sure to avoid spray drift onto other plants or into water.

Newly planted red apple iceplant but weeds are taking over

I have heard of two possible choices, the first is a product called "Killer" sold at Armstrongs Gargen centers that may kill the grass, but not the Ice Plants. Check out - http://www.garden-counselor-lawn-care.com/kill-crabgrass.html

Good Luck, I Have not used it, but going to in the next couple of days, seems to be the best choice I can find so far.
