USE A VOLTMETER TO FIND THE POINT IF FAILURE
FIRST IS HEAD LAMPS MUST WORK. SEE WHY
FUSE LINK C BLOW KILLS IT ALL DEAD.
BATTERY DEAD WEAK LAMPS GLOW DIM
THEN KEYSWITCH TESTS GOOD.
THEN PRNDL BAD (P AND N BOTH DEAD)
THE STARTER CAN BE HOT WIRED KEY OFF.
BATTERY 2 CABLES 4 LUGS NOT LOOSE OR RUSTY .

The fuel pump will run on a prime cycle for approx 5 seconds whenever the key is turned on, but only after it has been off for at least 10 seconds and whenever there is oil pressure.

Get the codes pulled. The check engine soon light means there is a issue that needs to be addressed. Once you have the codes pulled you can use them to diagnose and locate the issue.

prolly mass airflow sensor or vacume leak

it is located on the side of the transmission case, it has a vacuum hose going to it, make sure that hose is good and has vacuum from the engine going to the modulator, here is a picture of the modulator so u can ID it.

the car's ecu detected a problem. you need an obd2 scantool or a code reader to extract the code so you know what causes the check engine light. or take it to a shop and have them diagnose the problem. usually its an emission related problem

service engine light refers to a computer related problem. you will need to access the computer link,retrieve the code that turned the light on, and follow a flow chart to diagnose

sounds like the crank angle sensor. my 1993 buick was doing the same thing. hope this helps.
